It never occurred to me that a clip blade would🐕 not be a good fit in a Congress. I learned something new. In fact with my little but growing slip joint knowledge, I have learned several things from this thread. And had fun also! Thanks! A whittler it is!

I wonder if sunfish-sized congresses ever existed in nature?

This could be fun! And expensive.

Knife #1, a four blade cattle knife; 3-7/8" equal end, stainless liners, bolsters, pins, rivets, etc. Fluted bolsters, milled liners, no half stops, blades Magnacut, clip, spey, sheepfoot and punch. Blade runups cleaned up, no ugly mess showing, same inside. Some gorgeous stag covers with a Federal shield. Cut swedges, long pulls, high polish on all metal. Think a four bladed cattle knife made of the perfect materials.

Knife #2, a four bladed equal end gents knife, again all stainless frame and same detailing except mother of pearl covers and a slim bar shield. One clip blade, one fingernail blade with a scraper & file, one pen and one needle point splinter picker.

For a work type knife I would like to be able to mix and match parts from the Victorinox Alox series knives and replace the spear point main blade with a custom one, a clip point of some very tough type stainless, I am unsure of type here. Better and harder than the oem steel but not ridiculously hard and brittle to the point of being easily damaged when used for common work chores around house, woods and yards. If Victorinox would offer an Alox with a clip point blade I would buy that, fantasy steel notwithstanding.

I think I want a 3 blade knife, one large spear to work with, a wharncliffe like blade for the point and a smaller spear exclusively for food.
