I just made my best slip joint ever. Fit and finish is great. What's the problem you ask? The wood scales squeak so bad when opening and closing the blades it turns people's heads and ask wth is that! I guess it's rubbing against the bolsters, i can hear it loud at either end if i put my ear to it. Any remedy?

Try oiling everything up heavily. Work the blade a bunch and see if it solves the problem.

I did what you said, and opened/closed the blades probably 500 times and i think it's good now! Kind of threw me off, i never expected high pitched squeaking noises!

Next time, try a dab of grease where the blade tang contacts the backspring.
