Slip Joint Spring Temper Help

I am replacing a broken back spring on a custom made slip joint for a customer. The knife was made around 20-25 years ago by a maker known as W.R. Carnes. The customer couldn't find any info as to whether he is still making or not. That's how I wound up with the knife.

Question.......... The replacement spring will be made from 440-C. I will harden it minus the cryo step. What tempering temp would you recommend for the spring? The spring will be .125 thick and approximately .125 at its narrowest height.

Thanks,

Robert

Good to see you here Robert. I was going to move this to the Shop Talk forum, but I see you already posted there too. No problem. Im sure you thought that one of the slip joint gurus that hang out here might be able to help. Good luck with your question!

Thanks Gary,

Yup, I figured that with all the amazing slip joint talent as we have on this forum that someone might chime in with a little help.
