Slip joint tips

Ok, I'll try doing the pivot pin like you said. I am worried about peening it too tight. My spring is about .005 thicker than the blade. I guess i can stick a scrap piece of steel inside the handle to help from peening it too tight?

Your blade and spring must be the same thickness or you will bind the blade when you peen. As you peen the pivot pin it will lever off the spring and form a clamping action on the blade, I make my springs .0005 less than the blade.

Feel free to laugh. Next one will get the pivot pin lowered towards the spine. I shouldn't of narrowed the neck down as much as i did. One bolster is a little longer than the other. But i did really maximize the blade length here, that's a plus, that sucker almost looks too long.

I'm going to practice peening, and play around with the thicknesses. I'm not going to peen this knife until i try it on scrap until i get it right.

Chamfered the bolsters with a 9/64 bit. The blade was exactly 0.001 thicker than the spring. Peened it very lightly until it just took the noticeable play out of the blade, and then tapped it 5 more times on each side. Functionally, it's leaps and bounds above anything ive made so far. I have you guys to thank for that, so thank you!
