Slip joints or locking knives...which do you prefer?

i would rather have locks on everything.
but since that's not ever gonna happen
with some folders....
i've learnt to use slip joints with more respect
and care; paying heed to its physical
limitations.
besides, there are times when its
"safer" to have a non-locking blade
given that in some places
or situations where knives are
frowned upon big time...

Locking for me, that being said I bought a micarta g slip and it really opened my eyes to how nice slip joints can be.

Needless to say I plan on adding some more to my collection in the future

My EDC is a locking Gayle Bradley 1. I never even think about it, just works very good. I'm old school liner lock I guess. I understand frame locks but I don't like a crack in the side of a folder. I prefer smooth sides on the handle.

Framelock is my preference. The only non-locking knife I carry is my SAK as a backup in my right pocket everyday

Have both but locking blades for an easy win if you actually use your knives for more than cutting boxes...

I have moved to locking knives, one handed, clipped, but will always have a love for the slip joint and could easily move back to them someday in my older age.
I still have both and they both have a place in the lineup. Many of my locking knives have features that remind me of slip joints-but I vary well may be the only one to see it.

I like both. No matter which locking knife I might have on me (or even if I don’t have one on me), I always carry 2 SAKs.

I prefer both, I usually cary at least three different knives with me each day. One to loan to non knife people, one for food prep, and one for general edc tasks. Lately its been my Victorinox Cadet for my loaner, the case backpocket for foor prep, and my Benchmade 940 for general edc tasks. I fully understand that any of these knives could fill the others role, but what can I say I'm a knife nut.

I have the same G Slip. The KC exclusive in natural micarta? Probably the sharpest knife I’ve ever received, and I’ve had hundreds. If you’re looking for something similar in nature but still different, go for the Real Steel Luna. Mine is the BHQ exclusive in CF. Has that same 3/4 stop and yes, a similarly thin and slicey blade stock. My two favorite “modern” traditionals. And I have a grip of them.

I prefer modern locking folders of all types but find myself buying several slippys lately. Prefer them with halfstops and under a 3" blade since they don't generally have pocket clips so not too big or heavy but i mainly carry modern folders as i like clip carry and prefer a lock. I do enjoy all well designed knives though whether its a slippy, modern locking, bali, fixie, etc i just like knives!

I like and use both.

Me too. Sometimes I carry both at the same time.
Today I have a Buck 501 in S30V from the Buck Custom Shop on my belt.

I grew up using knives before locking knives became common place.
