Should read slipjoint. Drat.

I was in a local chain store recently and saw these 8 drawer wooden toolboxes. The drawers are lined and I thought it might make a good storage for my folder (moslty traditional patterns).

I have seen shelves in a couple of threads, how else do members store their collections, yet keep them handy for viewing or selecting carry knife for the day?

Mine are on shelves and drawers. But I spotted a WH CF T-10 or 12 in that second drawer, really does not belong in there with the traditionals, you need to send it to me. I will take good care of it.:D:D:D

I have one like that (or somewhat). Don't keep my slippies in them, but it does contain sheaths, torx drives, chamois, an assortment of wrenches (hex, allen, star, etc),loctite, oil, Renn Wax, stones, documentation of knives, some user fixed blades and other odds and ends related to my collection or use.

It has held up very well over the years as a knife maintenance and collection support box and does not look too nasty in the basement den, but I have no taste in home decor. ;)

Yep, Ed that's exactly how I do it.
Wih a felt lined wooden toolbox 20" X 16" X 10" deep.
You have a nice collection going there, some beauties & good users that I recognice. Thanks for sharing!

Good eye James, That is my dress up knife.

I do have some maitenance stuff in the top. It is the deepest storage spot.

Several of the knives in the bottom belong to the two oldest kids. a couple of the SAKs and the Buck Ms. Liberty knife.

My wife has a few tucked in there as well. She has a medium stockman, leek, leatherman, and a green jester.

I love the weight of those CF WH, I have the T-10 and a B-09(Kestral) you really can not tell you are carrying when they are so light. You have a lot of nice ones there, a real good start, but it is an addiction, worse than drugs. Cost you more too. Here is how I store most of mine. I have posted it before, but I love to show it off, kinda like a proud papa.

That is quite a dislpay!

I have been pretty fortunate with collecting.

I have one from Gerstner International, the more affordable version of a Gerstner Toolbox. They are nice, but it only took me about a year to outgrow it.

I use a Gerstner too. I made dividers for the trays out of 1/8 x 1/4" strips of bass wood so the knives don't bang around. Easy project. The dividers simply friction-fit into the drawers so the box remains unaltered.

Nice tray and VERY nice knives.

James Holy Moly!
Steve did you sign a waiver for that knife purse;)..seriously sweet set there!

Very nice knives and tray. I don't recognize the Gerstner brand. I will check them out.

I found it at Bi Mart. They are a regional (Washington and Oregon), employee owned chain. Not always the best products, but I like the people that work there. Also, they still have a gun counter and will order for you.

I checked out the Gerstner line. Awesome boxes. A bit beyond my means at the moment, though.

The Gerstner line is divided and even the International line (veneer) like I have is costly. The regular ones are solid Oak, Cherry, etc.

I bid on about 15 or 20 on Ebay before I finally got one for a bargain. It was a damaged freight item with some cosmetic flaws and no key. Otherwise I'd not have one.

The GI or international is said to be solid oak here. http://www.gerstner-international.com/About-GI.htm I don't have a GI version so I can't say first hand.

I have my Fathers USA Gerstner Machinist Chest (35+ years old) and might just put it to use for knives.

i just keep my few spare knives in a basket.

maybe if i amass enough i will have to look into getting a real storage system.

nice storage and knives guys

I remember back when all the cool kids were using those purses and I was busy running around getting folks Den's Cases at the big shows :D

I still use them about half the time. I like how the knife carries in them when I'm wearing suit pants...upright and no imprint.
