Slipjoint collecting box

The ash chest sold by Harborfreight Tools works well at a reasonable price of $60. http://www.harborfreight.com/cpi/ctaf/displayitem.taf?Itemnumber=94554

I don't have anything useful to add here except:

Bi-Mart :thumbup::thumbup::thumbup::thumbup:

I do most of my shopping there.

I found it at Bi Mart. They are a regional (Washington and Oregon), employee owned chain. Not always the best products, but I like the people that work there. Also, they still have a gun counter and will order for you.

I checked out the Gerstner line. Awesome boxes. A bit beyond my means at the moment, though.

Gerstner makes a few different lines. some are cheaper.

Very nice! I like the corner piexes. They remind me of steamer trunks.

I love the weight of those CF WH, I have the T-10 and a B-09(Kestral) you really can not tell you are carrying when they are so light. You have a lot of nice ones there, a real good start, but it is an addiction, worse than drugs. Cost you more too. Here is how I store most of mine. I have posted it before, but I love to show it off, kinda like a proud papa.

WOW!!!!!!!-beautiful:)

Simple unfinished box, with six drawers, from IKEA. It's an older one, and a lot heavier built than the new ones built from thinner material. It will be finished and felt-lined this summer.

thx - cpr

The GI or international is said to be solid oak here. http://www.gerstner-international.com/About-GI.htm I don't have a GI version so I can't say first hand.

I have my Fathers USA Gerstner Machinist Chest (35+ years old) and might just put it to use for knives.

I have this one the 532

I'd like to add to it some day so it has this option

You can go this route as well, but it doesn't seem like the bottom rolling assembly would be much use... for my knife collection anyway.

I use a Gerstner too. I made dividers for the trays out of 1/8 x 1/4" strips of bass wood so the knives don't bang around. Easy project. The dividers simply friction-fit into the drawers so the box remains unaltered.

I like the idea of dividers (and wow, that is some nice bone scales there, I'd like to see those 4 opened), but with my limited woodworking skills, I think I'd go crazy trying to cut that many slats and make them fit.

I've tried to find out where I could get some of those plastic tubes. I kind of like this open access though. It's nice sometimes to get in here and open and shut a bunch of them, and wipe of the blades.

Thanks, the WT at the top is Napanoch. The others are Rem bone. You have a lot of knives there to make dividers :) they are REALLY quick to make with a little x-acto miter box and saw and some super glue, though.
