I have read so many threads and really studied slipjoints for months now.
One thing I can't figure out is how to get the pivot in the center of the scales and still get all the geometry correct. I'm planning my first, it will be a shadow pattern. Do you just add material to the bottom of the bolster area to center the pivot?

Why do you want it centered? They are pretty much all lower than center. Your design looks good. go for it:thumbup:

I agree. You're rarely going to see a centered pin on a slipoint, or probably any folder for that matter. You can get close sometimes, but it's really not a prerequisite by any means.

That said, you spring does look to be a touch wide. If you narrow that a little bit more, and then "center" everything back up, you'll be closer to center on your pivot pin.

The top of the liner and spring are drawn wide. the front of the spring is left long as well. The file is for my waterjet so I wanted room to true things up. I assumed the off center thing would be a deal breaker.

I managed to get a couple prototypes cut out that I'll be able to fiddle with. I also learned to not cut carbon fiber with a water jet.

here you can really see the bubbles between the layers.
