So I finally got to making folders, started off in slipjoints, and then while looking for a pattern nife in the knife box, ran across my old straight razor, went way off track learning to make those, and now am back to working on folders. here is the last of the first good batch of slipjoints I made in desert ironwood and 1095, with dovetailed brass bolsters and brass liners.

OAL open 6 1/8"

blade length is 2 3/4"

width-9/16" wide

grind- full flat grind, .087" thick at the spine, .050" measured 1/4" behind the edge, and .010" thick at the shoulder of the edge.

steel- 1095 high carbon, differentially hardened. heat treat includes a double normalize, double anneal, triple edge quench and triple temper for a really nice performing blade that takes and holds a great edge and yet is easy to hone!

edge- 325 grit

finish- machine a45 finish

Bolsters- dovetailed brass with brass pins, and matching brass liners

scales- Desert Ironwood

weight - 2.05 ounces

SOLD!!! plus $5 for shipping/insurance to CONUS. I can accept paypal Joe357m@bresnan.net or money order. It is also listed on my website at www.caltoncutlery.com

This one is SOLD!!!

Thanks Woodysone!

yep, I have a couple smaller slipjoints on the bench right now, and a couple toggle locks in the kiln getting annealed, and then next is a batch of axis style folders based on my benchmade 940 with some changes. Fun times!

thanks Joe!! I just added a couple more with the blade closed, and one from above showing the dovetailed bolsters.

Am looking forward to your interpretation of Benchmades 940, are you going to be using omega springs or have you come up with something better?

woodysone, thanks! I did a youtube vid awhile back on the prototype,
and it has been in my pocket ever since. and I think once I get to them and work out some bugs they will be a nice edc.

I have 2 of the 940's and have been carrying one or the other nearly everyday for well over 10 years
one has had the blade replaced by benchmade, and I made a new blade for the other one. and ive used both of them pretty hard and have never had an omega spring fail in that entire time on either knife, so im staying with that style. so not much will change with the lock, but more with the blade profile and handle and materials.

Joe after seeing your you tube video, sent you a message through your web site. Thanks much Martin
