Hey y'all, first time poster.

I've heard some people comment that it's not good for the back springs on a slipjoint to display knives on stands with blades open. Right now in my display case I've got about half of mine open and half closed. Any thoughts or opinions on how they should be displayed?

I display my slipjoints closed.I think that if you have one blade fully extended and the others fully closed you will not do any damage. However I think it is not reccomended to open 2 blades that ride the same spring at the same time
as in a single spring muskrat or opposite blades in a scout pattern.
I am curious what others thoughts are on this subject.

As long as the springs are not under load - they're flush along the backside of the slippie - I don't see long-term damage occurring.

I'm not even sure, honestly, if during the life of a pocket knife it can be damaged by a constant force applied to the backspring by having a blade partially open. Maybe if there's a deformity in the spring or its heat treat?
