I've spent the last couple months acquiring and setting up some new equipment in the hopes of improving my slipjoints. I now have a milling machine and horizontal grinder. This is the first knife I've done with the use of the new machines. I think it has really helped. The knife is not perfect, but I think it is quite an improvement over those I made before. Anyhow, here's the specs on the knife:

Blade and backspring are D2 tool steel-started with 3/32" stock...blade is hollow ground with satin belt finish
Handle scales are black canvas micarta
Liners are 0.040" 410 stainless--mill relieved
Pins and shadow washer are 416 stainless
Decorative mosaic pin in one side just for fun
Knife is 8 3/4" open; 5" closed; blade is 3 3/4" tip to scales
There is no half stop...backspring is flush with liners in both open and closed position...pull is about a 6 I'm guessing.

Intro priced at $225 delivered to you CONUS...I need to pay for some of this new equipment for cryin out loud. Paypal is OK or PM me for other options. First to post I'll take it does. Thanks for takin a look! -Phil Tham

Looks good an hope to see you here more often, An Yes a Mill an Surface grinder really do help a lot to make a more precision Knife. Check that Wheel on the grinder for tightness every so often, so it doesn't come loose or blow up on you. Just snug it up good, don't over tighten it.

Phil, i'll take this knife as long as per PM, the pull to open it is not a 'nail breaker'. My hands have some arthritis and i can't manage super strong springs anymore.

This one is sold pending funds...thanks Roland! If you get it and the pull is too stiff for you or anything else for that matter, just send it back for a refund...I'll pay shipping both ways.

Thanks Joe and Stan for the encouraging words!

I think this is one of the nicest Sod Buster style knives i've seen. I like everything about it and how it all comes together as a whole. But it's the deep hollow grind and the loop for a lanyard attachment in particular that clinched it for me.
This, in addition to the fixed blade knife made by Phil that i recently bought on the secondary market. Although inexpensive, it is a well designed, well made and super sharp knife, so i know i am not taking any chance of disappointment by buying another of Phil's knives.

I picked up this knife at the P.O. a couple of hours ago.
Phil Tham is a Master Knifemaker. It's Perfect. Comparable or better than folders i have that cost 2-2 1/2 times as much and coming from highly esteemed makers.
I will comment only on the blade grind. Completely even and very thin. It takes a real Master to grind a blade this thin. Very few knifemakers can turn out a blade as precise as this.
Edge: hair poppin' with the slightest touch. I have a few knives just as sharp. I don't have any sharper. I don't think there is a 'sharper'.
This knife i'm sure is in a very small group that could be called "World's Finest Folding Slicer".
Thank you Phil. This folder is so well done, i consider it "priceless".

Thanks Roland...that's some very high praise that absolutely made my day! That has to be nicest comment I could have hoped to recieve. Dealing with folks like you are what makes this so much fun. I'm truly blessed. -Phil

And so many of us feel blessed to own one of your knives, Phil. (Make some more of these, please!)
