Slipjoints....and friends!

It seemed most of the men I grew up around, had enough stuff on their collective keychains, they could have saved the Titanic.:D

Carl.

Funny thing for sure. Sometimes I get that kind of comment myself at work, and that's just because I carry a SAK, a USB memory and a pocket knife :D
I have to say, I'm quite surprised to see how many of you carry a flashlight in their pocket all the time. I have one on my keyring (a USB powered one, so no worry about batteries), but my keys don't stay on me all the time (I know you might think it's weird, but that's just the way it is). I carried it in my pocket for some time after I bought it, and then decided that it would rather stay on my keys.
As for SD/prybars/P-38 and such, I guess I'd like to give them a try. I think they will end up on my keys, thus not on me all the time (maybe on my work keys, that are on me all the time when I'm on duty). Honestly, I don't like to have my pockets full (I even carry a very thin wallet for the same reason).
Finally, I carry the lighter more like a charm. I very rarely use it, I sometimes play with it (I always liked fire, since I was a kid), but most of all, both my Zippo and the London-found lighter have an emotional effect on me; if they didn't have any, I guess I wouldn't carry a lighter at all.

I always carry a small flashlight on my keychain, and I have a 4-way Sears screwdriver in my wallet. Truth be told, I've never used the 4-way yet, but I'd so tiny and light, there's really no reason not to carry it. I also carry a Victorinox Rambler on my key ring, which provides ...... well, this stuff:

I forgot to mention that I also tend to carry a pack of tissues, and -- whenever I come across substantial napkins or paper towels available in a restaurant or public restrooms -- I'll usually fold up a few and tuck them into a back pocket. When you have three little kids scurrying around under foot, those are invaluable. :p

My peanut (or other small knife) and Zippo ride nicely together in my jeans watch pocket. Keys with USB and Vic Classic are in the right pocket. Left front is for the phone. Back pockets hold handkerchief, wallet and a small LED light. I have stuff like screwdrivers, can and bottle openers, a bigger knife, etc. in my bag.

Typically, I will carry a traditional along with a Victorinox Explorer plus, a Leatherman Kick with pocket clip, 4sevens MiniCR2 titanium flashlight, a Zippo tape measure, a Moleskine tiny notebook, and a Fisher bullet space pen. On my keychain is a 4sevens Preon Revo SS and a split pea lighter.

Also packing a Smith 442 with that daily off duty loadout along with a wallet and cellphone.

I use the Vic Explorer, the pen and paper, and the flashlights the most. Haven't come across a situation yet that the above pocket dump didn't cover.

Probably need to add a hankie to the mix.

I always carry my stockman and a SAK of some type along with a small flashlight. As some have said on here, once you start having one on you all the time, you wonder why you didn't sooner. I also carry a lighter(I don't smoke but want to have some type of fire source), P-38(wrapped in a small piece of white tape so it won't cut until I need it), and a small plastic container of Band-Aids. The container is very flat and holds about 6-8 Band-Aids, which are essential when you have kids and their friends around. I'm sure most here know the term "EDC", but for those that don't it refers to EveryDay Carry items. There are whole other forums dedicated to this if anyone is interested. Take care..

I didn't mean to start a new "EDC thread", even though I might have ended creating one :D
I was curious to know what people carry in their pockets (EDC, for what I've seen, usually includes bags and sheaths and so on).
I was asking about tools, specifically.
And, I was curious to see if somebody would come out with something that I find particularly well related to slipjoints. A bandana surely is, a Zippo too...
It's awesome to see how many people carry a SAK/LM on themselves all the time (Classic, Rambler, Micra and so on). Not that it surprises me the leastl.

The only tool I carry besides the pocket knife is a small flashlight. I like my pockets as empty as possible.

I like most of us carry a bunch of junk.

In my front left pocket i usually carry my Wenger SI and my cell phone (but for today i carrying my new seal sodbuster :)
in my back left pocket is a bandana
in my back right pocket is my wallet
in my front right pocket i carry my Case Mini-trapper, my zippo, my pack of cigarrettes and my keyring, which includes my classic, small led flashlight, p38, sears 4way screw driver and of course my keys any any change i may accumulate.

yeah i think i carry too much stuff :)

In sticking with the cutlery end of my pockets I offer the following:

DMT Dia-Sharp in 325 Grit. It is credit card size and I never knew how much I would use it until I started carrying one.
Swiss-Tech Utili-Key. Except for the knife blade the rest of it gets used quite frequently.
A.G. Russell Tweezers - Best there is and a nice little give away to friends. Not to mention A.G. sends these to the troops as well. Way to go A.G.!
A.G. Russell Steel Thumb Nail - I use it for many things except what it was intended for! Very handy.
A.G.Russell Nail Clippers - Best there is.

Hate to look like an A.G. Russell ad here but he does have some of the coolest pocket stuff around.

Man, what kind of pants do your wear? :D

Brad, your answer is what I was hoping for. Didn't think that anyone carried a sharpener in their pocket daily. And yes, the other items are cool, especially the swiss tech key (goes along with the prybar, the 4 way SD, the P-38, and so on...)

believe it not, jeans when not working, khakis when working. Yes my pockets bulge, yes occasionally the p38 bites me, but better to have it and not need it, than need it and not have it.

hell i used to keep my boker prytool on my keyring, but it was just too bulky, funny enough it DOES fit in an altoid tin ;)

Always a Zippo, always a flashlight, and (almost) always a Case slippie in left front pocket. When I leave the house I bring my keys which have an Opinel #2. There is usually an bandana in my back pocket as well. Sometimes I still EDC a modern folder but this is not as common as it once was years ago. Other traditional knives come and go as EDCs but the Cases and my little Opinel are constant companions. The only thing I don't always have in my pockets is cash!:grumpy:;)

I just carry my pocket knife , wallet and phone. I can't really have much more due to the dress code in my professional school. However, I always wear a watch which I consider a good friend to my knife :)

Peanut with bandana on top in right front pocket.
Rambler and Fenix F01 on keys.
Sears 4 way and P38 (with the hook sharpened) in wallet
So far the tools.
Furthermore I carry my cell phone left front and tobacco poach with lighter left back.
Wallet right back.

I always have these tools with me. The GEC calf roper is alternated with a Case SBJ.
The 4way screwdriver is due to jackknife. The sak is a rambler and the best keychain sak IMO. The photon micro light is good enough for the odd task. But the two Atwood tools are the most sentimental. The whistle is from my wife a few years ago. The Prybaby was from my dad and my first Atwood. My dad spent a longtime on the phone with peter Atwood when he got it or me. Said he was a nice guy. :D

I wear Tru-Spec cop pants and they are great for everything EDC. I always have a small slippie in pocket with chapstick & thumbdrive. Keychain has a P38 from boot camp 30 years a go and a tiny Spyderco bug. A Maglite LED flashlight, lighter, pen, Klein scissors, larger EDC. Everything gets used.

As I am in scrubs through the week I can't have too much with me. I carry a slipjoint de jour, a nail file and small massaging stone, and this little "therapists Fingernail" that I have made as I can't have real nails any more. I carry the mammoth one, gave the blackwood one to the only other guy that graduated from the massage program because he would not carry a knife but needed something to get under beer tabs.

When in khakis or jeans I'll often clip a small Fenix light to me belt loop, but don't add much more. Stuck in the urban jungle I rarely need fire, and extras are on keychain anyways. Plus with ID and Cell Phone I don't have much more comfortable room in my pockets.

When going to an antiques' fair, I carry a very small Jeweller's loupe 10x magnification. Takes up no room at all. Handy for examining knives too!

Also you can regress to childhood and burn stuff with it on a sunny day:D:D:eek:

EDC BUCK 301DW, Case 6318 Old Red PW, Uncle Henry 885, Leatherman PST, mandatory at work AA LED flashlight, 11 in 1 screwdriver , voltage detector, 4 inch crescent wrench, small flip blade adjusting screw driver, pen, note book, sharpe permanent marker , three colors identification tape, ear plugs, safety glasses and depending on the projects add BUCK 110. I am old and such a creature of habit the only difference from work to my time off is loose the uniform and wear Carhartt’s but still carry all the items, can you say knut. Hunting season just add bandanna, compass, Zippo and go.
Bob.
