Slippy questions

Thanks for the link Bill, and Congrats on your MS stamp. My hat is off to those who work hard to earn their stamp. I am going to take several classes from Mike since we live in the same town now.

Thank Mark, Mike is good people. I got to sit in on a folder class by him recently and it was great. Mike is a good teacher to boot.

Yes, most shoot for a 0.001" wider bushing than the tang. Just don't get over enthusiastic with the hammer -- you can still wedge the blade, it's just not as easy - so check your action as you peen. I assume you already have or can easily make a bushing lap?

I was going to just do the bushing height on my surface grinder while in the tang hole then remove it and take the tang down another thou., that should be OK right? And, yes thanks for the point about checking the action as I go, I could have overdone that for sure.

That should work -- just don't forget to also take the spring down to match the tang. ;) Oh yeah, it also saves aggravation to leave the blade(s) open while you peen -- should you get the pivot too tight, it's far easier to deal with the problem.
