I ordered yet another boker congress and this one has taken the sum total of 1 month, 3 weeks and 2 days to not arrive. I live in Australia and it was coming from america. Can any of you gentlemen offer me a "peace of mind" reason for something to take that long? Just need to know before I make a fool of myself by reporting to that famous online auction site that a scandalous miscarriage of justice has taken place.

Nearly two months is disheartening for sure! Is customs holding it up?

Well, I have the same problem as I´m also in overseas country. When I place an order in the US I make myself count about one month the day I bought it. When it comes earlier, it´s a great joy. When it takes longer, it bothers me a little. But nearly two months?! The longest journey a package ever made was the one I got sent from a kind forum member here. It about six weeks to arrive here - but it was caught by customs and it was vacation time. So I think the delay was due to this. Disappointing though ...

I also live overseas
Packages meander their way thru the postal services
From 10 days to two months with no rhyme or reason

Stude-I'm on the other side of the island continent and have knives come from the states in as little as 6 days!!! That was by paying almost the cost of the knife again in postage-but I needed it quick for a gift. A very special gift my sons 21st.Other wise no way would I pay that much postage.
Other knives have taken almost 2 months . It does seem to be getting better lately (I'm whispering that in case they hear).
I usually start to twitch at around the 4 week mark-that s when I know its getting close and usually turns up in the next few days.
There are many reasons why packages take different lengths of time. here are a few that spring to mind.
*Public holidays in both countries
*School hols
*Peak mailing periods eg easter and xmas
*The combination of both of these.
*Bad weather-which causes a huge backlog
*huge backlogs
*General slowness of sorting and distribution-unavoidable
*Staff shortages due to illness
*Occupational Health and Safety -the best way I know of making things grind to a halt. As a nation Australia is regulating itself out of business.
These are some reasons I believe cause the variance.
On average I wait just over two weeks. Also only one has ever been opened by ACS but not held up.
One thing I do find hard to understand is the massive difference in what people charge for US postal. I recently got free post from the States from a GEC vendor. Thanks very much.
Any how it sounds like you are in the twitching phase so that means this week you will get your knife. Hear me O demons of the mail box I have spoken:encouragement:

I like that image neeman. meandering. with no rhyme or reason.
I'm more inclined to picture the global mailing system as a massive automated powerhouse (cue the music from the bugs bunny cartoons which is called "Powerhouse" ) hundreds of conveyor belts moving rapidly in all directions on a hundred levels . Giant robotic arms, hands with white gloves delicately plucking packages hither and thither sending them on their correct path. Relentless,Never tiring, Efficient and Futuristic.-You post your order for a knife in the mailbox and as you turn to leave the mail man whizzes up on a scooter and says"Package for Meako"
aaahhh....oh sorry I was dreaming.

Thanks guys, I will hold my patience a little longer. I have not heard from customs so I will assume that it is because I kicked the dog in a past life :) Thanks.

you won't "hear " from customs you''l just get an empty package delivered with a scrap of paper telling they have pinched your knife.
If its a legal knife they will have applied sticky tape to fix the hole they cut in it with another knife.:p

I've sold 50 or 60 knives that were shipped to Australia using USPS Priority Mail. Never once did one fail to show up to the recipient. Hang in there.

Since this is a thread about delivery time to Australia, rather than about traditional knives, it is being moved to the Good, Bad, and Ugly feedback forum.
(I think it qualifies as "ugly".)

I'm across the other side.
Never had to wait more than a couplaweeks for an E-bay delivery from USA, (Except the time the bitch ripped me off. Got a refund and left a very rude "Feedback")

Some American shippers charge ridiculous P&P, so I avoid them irrespective of how alluring their merchandise is! $ 40 is a bloody rip off when others do it for $15.
Most knife knuts are genuine, IMHO.

It all depends on the manner in which it was shipped mate. USPS First Class is the slowest and "generally" around 2-3 weeks, my slowest with this method was just over 2 months. USPS Priority week and a half, USPS Express 6 - 7 days. with the later two teh tracking Nos will tack it from the US to you. With First Class the tracking cuts out one the item arrives at an International Mail Centre in the US.

How was yours traelling ??

I think lots of American shippers have gotten the good old shaft from eBay when shipping for the $15 rate. I've seen a lot of people willing to ship to AUS provided it goes Priority International, includes tracking. A friend of mine that was hurting for cash sold a few knives on eBay and a couple went to AUS, only to be caught by customs and destroyed as they were classified "restricted/illegal to own gravity knives". He lost the money because he needed to refund the customer and lost the knife because it was destroyed. Sell $175 knife and end up $350 in the hole, no thanks.

How was it shipped? And what does tracking currently say? Do you not have any tacking info?

I ship to Australia quite a bit for some of the guys here, And i would never go first class!! Priority at least with full insurance. When shipping that far, especially something of high value the extra amount you spend on shipping is very much worth the peace of mind. It has cost from 50-95 bucks so far per box i ship, but thankfully not a single box has had issues, some arrive faster than others, but even during the holiday season didnt take 2 months i dont believe.

If i were you id require priority at a minimum for all future purchases. This will up the final costs of course but at least you will have a better idea of when its coming.

I wish you the best!

I shipped 6 pm2's USPS express to Australia and they all got there within a week.

I cannot comment about Australia but I have waited up to 3 months for a regular airmail package to be delivered to me in South Africa. I had actually given up on it and written it off when I received the notification.

My advice is hang on for a bit…….You never know.

Best of luck, we will be holding thumbs for you.

Yeah, it did take 2 months or so once or twice.
You have to make sure to ask person shipping to you to put a correct post code, I had one box go to Orange because the guy who shipped put an 8 instead of 0 (even though there is no street with the same name in Orange)... Was an express parcel so I called the post CS (3 times!) and I got it 4 days later.
Did you get the knife in the end?

Also, sometimes my package would be at my local PO but a postie would not leave a failed delivery notice...

Usually slow delivery with international packages is because of slow processing through customs.
I have had packages take up to a week to go through US customs when leaving the US.
But some countries will take weeks or even months to send a package through to the recipient.
It just happens sometimes.

USPS Priority mail will only provide tracking info that shows date of mailing and when it processes through US customs leaving the country.
After that possibly verification when it is delivered, if the Post Office from the destination country decides to share that info.

If you have an overdue package and you can verify that it was shipped and left the US you should check with your local post office.
Print out the tracking info mentioned above and speak to a postal worker in person.
Doing that might keep a couple week delay from turning into months.

Just my 2 cents worth of advice. I hope it helps.
