Hi guys,

Haven't posted a picture of a knife I've made in a while, so I thought I'd share one for you guys to give me some feedback.

After being inspired by Nick Wheeler and his thread(s) on the Paranee fighters at the end of last year, I made my first fighter-style knife, and while I was experimenting, I thought why not also do the first inlay on a sheath. The inlay is beaver tail (thanks to Paul Long for parting with a few tails for me to play with).

Some specs:
OAL: 10 1/2"
Blade: CPM 154, 6" long, 1 1/4" wide, 5/32" thick, full flat grind with a small swedge on the top, heat treated to 60 RHC with a scotch-brite finish
Handle: African Blackwood, 4 1/2" long
Guard: 416 SS with black G10 spacers, satin finished
Pin: 416 SS

Any comments and feedback is always greatly appreciated - I'm pretty thick-skinned!

That's frickin' hideous...........just checking your skin thickness;)
All kidding aside you did a grand job on that........very clean, nice lines, and a good looking sheath. Good work.
Darcy:)

This knife does not fit my collection of tapered tang hunters. Not even close.

However, I have two similar knives from C R Sigman I bought 30 years ago because the money jumped out of my pocket and wouldn't go back. Your knife belongs in the display with C R Sigman, with equal praise. The old masters soldered their blade/guard joint, did you?

Thanks lawp. Yes, I did solder the guard to the blade - still do on all my guards/bolsters, although I am far away from being a master (or old, in my opinion ;) ).

Thick skin ain't needed on this! That's fantastic! Great job!

I just gotta try making one of those someday.

OK, then you may be a young master. Few knives in my collection lack solder, and if I ever decide to sell a knife they would be the first to go. If the young masters who solder would mention it in their list of features, perhaps the wanna-be young masters would add it to their skill set also.

Maker's mark is on the top of thte spne, but the pics didn't come out very well - I have to retake them. I'll post a picture of it as soon as I've done that.

I think it's flippin' sweet! I love blackwood and it's cool to see a stick tang in SS. This one is very classy but still in the realm of being practical and functional. Great work!
