I keep one of these in my day pack under the seat of my pickup to take with me every time I go in the woods.
Forged from 1085 high carbon steel
Heat treated with three normalizing and two tempering cycles and a differential quench with the edge about 58 Rc. This axe cannot be sharpened with a file, a stone is necessary.
Hand made ash handle
Length from the butt to the top of the head: 12 1/2 inches
Head length: 6 1/2 inches
Cutting edge: approximately 3 inches
Leather edge guard

I see an unfortunate knot in the base of the handle. I don't think this will be a problem but I will add another roughed out handle blank with the axe.
