I enjoy making and using these little axes. They are great to keep in a pack while hiking or hunting but if you want to go logging, forget it; they are very lightweight at 15 ounces.
I forged this from 1 inch bar stock of 1085 high carbon steel
I did a differential heat treat with the edge at about 58 Rc. It won't sharpen with a file, you would need a stone
