Small chunky folder with a thin grind?

I'm in search of a knife that is small (sub 3 inch blade), chunky, and has a very thin behind the edge grind, preferably a hollow grind. I was looking at the berg blades slim, but the only variant with what appears to be a thin grind is the satin lightning stripe carbon fiber variant (the only hollow grind), but I can't get over the LSCF, too many people have strands poke out over time and I don't want to deal with that. Any suggestions?

WE Roxi with or a ZT 0900 with a REK Regrind? Those two fall into the small and chunky category for me.

I'm guessing you will need to have it reground to meet your specifics. Like b00n said, Josh at Razors Edge will do a fabulous job for you.

Kizer Mini Sheepdog in 154CM for $70. Plenty of room in the budget for a regrind. Assuming the Berg is roughly your budget ~$300.

Kizer Pinkerton. Josh could add (I'm sure) a small sharpening choil to knock it under 3" blade in addition to thinning out the blade.

Fox Vox Core? Might not be short enough.

GiantMouse ACE Biblio has a thin flat grind and the blade stock is thinner then the rest above.

If you want something that chunky dragonfly is not it but it is a great knife. I’ve been caring and H one dragonfly that is hollowed ground almost daily since I’ve been relegated to sitting in chairs and not getting out much after my accident. I love this knife.

However op you wanted small and chunky. I was looking at something like that and I looked up the technos, both of them, and decided they were really poor in design and slicing. Also very poor with piercing. I looked at two knives both of which I got. The first one is the Spyderco Lil native And the second one is the one eyed Jack. The one eyed Jack is probably the better slicer. But they’re both great knives and very heavy duty. The one eyed Jack has a much longer cutting edge as well. But they’re both fantastic for small stubby chunky little knives. The workmanship on both of them is above and beyond. I got the backlock version of the little native but it does come with a compression lock. The one eyed Jack of course is a liner lock.

The Spyderco Chubby really fits here, shame that one got discoed...Techno2 maybe and have it reground?

If the price didn't bother you, the Medford chunky monkey looks cool and fits your wants list fairly well. (But I've never actually handled one so it may not be thin enough behind the edge for you.)

the buck 112 is hollow ground, and rather chunky with a 3 inch blade - would this work?

i don't know how chunky you're looking for but a small inlaid inkosi fits the bill to me. it is stout with a pretty thick blade stock for a knife that size, but also hollow ground and fairly thin behind the edge

It sounds like you're describing the Trevor Burger Custom EXK Plus – not cheap, but it's a great small knife. The handle is 0.51-0.52 inches wide and fills the hand well, even for my XL hands. The blade is 2.8 inches long with a hollow grind. I had Razor Edge Knives reprofile the edge so it's easy to resharpen on my Sharpmaker. As a result my edge bevel is longer than the original, but even so it's 16-17 thousands behind the edge and a very nice slicer, with a 0.118-inch blade stock.

My two favorite EDC knives at 3" or under with fuller handles are the Buck 112 (DE's are pretty awesome IMO), and the LM Crater C33T. If you don't mind slip joints, some traditionals may fit your bill too.

If 3.25" works, the BM 575 is pretty thin behind the edge and has a nice heft to the scales. I also like the Arcane, but the handle (just thick enough to be considered filling) is a little slippery.

The older BM Mini Grips with a thumbhole in 154CM might be hollow grind. I think they might have recently switched to flat but not sure. The handles are a little chunkier, but were a little short for my taste.

The Ontario Rat II folder is also pretty slicey with a slightly thicker handle. I could never cozy up to that particular handle though.

One last thought. The older Aus8 Cold Steel Mini Recon had a slightly thicker handle than the newer ones. It was HG with a 3" blade. Confortable handel IMO. I think they might have DC'ed that model, but I heard that they made the G10 thinner over the last couple years.
