Small concern with my new 560

If you can flick it open by wrist action only, it's still considered illegal, at least in Canada, California and a bunch of other places.

Hopefully this is just a one-off problem, and not in a bunch of 560/561s!

Im not so sure about California.

Gravity knives are illegal, but if a knife has a detent to keep it closed on its own, I am pretty sure thats fine.

Aside from carrying fixed blades and concealing them, california is actually a pretty good state for pocketknives (depending on county-specific laws).

Yeah, sounds like it's just missing the detent ball. Either way sending it in would be the best bet.

Is your problem that there is NO DETENT? Or is the detent just weak?

Could you guys be a little more descriptive? I am not quite sure what y'all are saying or what to look for here. I am planning to send it in, but if it is something I can fix without ruining the warranty, I might want to take a look at it.

Pinch the blade with your index and thumb finger, and pull out on the blade as light as possible. Does it fill like there is any resistance to your pull or does the blade just swing freely? If there it a detent, you will feel it holding the blade.

Could it be that there is something stuck in the detent hole on the blade tang? Keeping the detent ball from fully seating?

Detent was clear. Just took it apart and reassembled it, tightened the pivot screw as much as possible, and I can still open it with a flick of my wrist. Will hopefully hear back from ZT tomorrow.

Ok, got confirmation it was received on the 14th. Now it's just the wait. I did get my 561 today though to help pass the time, absolutely outstanding in every respect.

Steve - I'm pretty sure that I looked at your knife yesterday. One of our warranty techs brought it to me to check out. It should be on it's way back to you shortly.

OK, got my 560 back from warranty work today. It is perfect! Detent is where it should be, flipper works great, and I couldn't have asked for better customer service. Thanks to all at ZT for making these awesome products and standing behind them!!!!

Awesome, I love hearing about the stellar service that some companies exhibit. I especially love seeing this kind of interaction with the community. Great work kershaw/ZT!

Sorry to be off topic, but how long did you have to wait to get the confirmation e-mail? My ZT-300 arrived at Kershaw over 2 weeks ago and I have received no confirmation of anything.

Sorry for the confusion...ZT did not send a confirmation email. I sent it in via USPS with DC. My advice would be to call their warranty department.

I did the same as you then, I was just wondering if they sent confirmation e-mails. I will not sweat it and let them do their work, no need to bother them if I know it is there.
