Want to get a small easy to carry fixed blade with cpm 3V. Any good options out there? Haven’t had much luck finding anything out there with those parameters. Or any other suggestions of fixed blades around that size that are great? Appreciate any help! Thanks

Approx budget- around $250

Go to knifecenter.com and click knives > fixed. You can filter your search by a bunch of parameters, including blade length. Select 3-4” and all kinds of options come up. You can further narrow it down by blade style if you have an idea of what you’re looking for. Other sites have similar search and filtering, but I find KC to be the most flexible. Good way to kill some time. Right off the bat a Buck 113 comes up that looks kinda nice at 3 1/8”.

Hmm interesting I didn’t know there were that many filters! I’ll try that

May I ask why you're preference is 3V in a pretty small blade? It might help with suggestions to know.

I can spend up to $250 maybe a little more.

Good budget.

You could go custom: might send Volunteer Knife Volunteer Knife a message: they make a very sweet 3" knife and I can recommend them. Maybe they have a small batch in the works ? (I have several 4.5" copies).

I have also have a sheepsfoot Bradford Guardian 4.5 that is very good. The Guardian 3 comes in different shapes, with good sheaths, too (leather or kydex, your choice).

Don't know about the steel, but the standby AG Russe "Sting" has that form factor. Available in strikppe down versions (CFRKT) and plastic too I tink (Cold Steel) qas well as deluxe vintage versions on e-Bay.

No, it is not NEW! But it is what it has always been, originally a so-called boot knife, today a viable neck knife.

Check out Bradford Knives. Not sure if they offer 3V but they do M390 and Magnacut. I'm delighted with my Guardian 3 in Magnacut.
You were able to get a guardian 3 in magnacut? I was only able to find the guardian 4 in magnacut. Any suggestions on where to look?

Hmm ok I’ll shoot them a message. I love the Bradford guardian, just wish they had the 3 in 3V or magnacut

I love 3v, my favorite knife is an lt wright in 3v but for a daily edc knife in 3" David Mary hooked me on AEB-L. As a mechanic I abuse my edc and when I do kill the edge it's easy to get sharp again. Now when I go off the beaten path I have my 3v with me but it doesn't resharpen after abuse as easy. But in your budget there are awesome options

I was going to suggest the Bradford Guardian in Cruwear also, but my preference by far is the 3.5 over the 3. It just feels much better in my hand than the 3 or the 4 because of the style. The 3.5 (this one in Magnacut, I have one in Cruwear also). I would recommend the full flat grind over the saber, it's a much better cutter in the small knives.

They do offer 3V in some models, but I'm not sure just what is currently available. DLT Trading usually has a pretty good selection of Bradford knives. Or call direct they are really easy to work with and try to get you what you want.

They are a bit above your $250.00, but Winkler has a few small fixed blades I like a lot too. The SD1 and SD2 and the newer Huntsman model. The steel is 80CrV2 and they do it well. SD1 below, it's a stout small knife, but a very lightweight package.

Some of the makers here offer great small fixed blades. Dave BF nic is Horsewright Horsewright has several models. I have one from him in ABE-L. This was just after I got it. It's a handy piece and nice and thin a great cutter. Probably a little over your $250.00 also, but a real nice knife.

They have made it in 3V, Magnacut and Cruwear. Now you just need to find one. I were you (and I love 3V), I'd pick Cruwear :)
ok great! I will see if I have any luck finding one. Hopefully I do! Which of those steels are easiest to strop back to a working edge?

Is Aeb-L easy to strop back to sharpness? Because I really like that in a knife.
