Hello everyone,

I had a question for the forums that I need some assistance with please. I am in the market for a small fixed blade (~5" OAL, ~2" blade) knife, preferably tool steel (O-1 maybe, easily sharpened and strikable) with a general purpose blade design. Somewhat like the BRKT Mikro Canadian, but I would just like to know what options are out there.
I would like it to carry easily in a front pocket sheath as well. Custom work is in mind as well, so...

Any suggestions, plz?

Thanks,

Sean

Hi Sean, I have two possible selections for you. At least these are "my" two picks.
The first is an ESEE EZULA II. Over all length is 6.75", with a blade length of 2.63". I know, these dimensions are a little longer than you requested.
Second is the out of print SCHRADE USA little finger with an over all length of 6.75", and a blade that is 2 & 5/8".
Both of these knives are made with high carbon 1095 steel. ;)

Check out blindhorse knives, fantastic knives for a fantastic price, they make qiute a few smaller knives....do yourself a big favour and check out their knives, also in that size range - ie... a smaller knife.... Micheal Morris knives as well.

That small Schrade finger is wonderful!

Bark River turn out a lot of small knives.

Muskratman may be able to make something along these lines too.

If you check in the Knifemaker's for sale area you'll see knives that meet your criteria offered on a regular basis.

I have dozens of small knives.

My favorite of them all is this one, made by Tim, it's awesome and was great value:

Other favorites include:

Northwoods Knives: Gentleman's Companion

That comes with one of these sheaths, which are great for pocket carry for any small knife:

Adirondack Leather Pocket Sheath

I don't think we're allowed to link so just google the above, first link should be where I got mine :)

I also love the Fallkniven WM1 or SK3 Juni, Izula/II and the Hinderer flashpoint. WM1 and flashpoint are bigger though.

Check out JK knives, right here in the makers section. He makes a few knives that are right up the alley for what you want. His EWOK and hikers backup models are within a fraction of an inch of your specs.

Carl.

+1 Go to the Fixed blade sub forum & hang out for awhile. There's a lot of talented makers there that could make one exactly to your specs.
The tough part is choosing which one to go with, although you can't go wrong with most of them.

Rick Menefee makes a selection of small FB's. His work is excellent and blades are scary sharp. His prices are a deal. You could contact him or watch the "For Sale by Individuals - Custom Knives" forum. But have to see it first. They only last minutes.

John at JK Knives makes some great small O1 EDC blades.

Not only does he make some awesome blades, he is a wonderful guy to deal with.

I wholeheartedly recommend a CRKT Folts Minimalist. With three choices of blade type and a 20 dollar price point it simply is the best small knife out there in my opinion. This thing seems like it should cost 80 to 100 bucks. Incredible knife.

Thanks everyone!

There are alot of great knives for me to look through now. I appreciate all of the input. I guess right now I am focusing on the Blind Horse Frontier First Patch. A few suggested I couldn't find a site that sold them or if they were still made (ex. JK Sparkler).
I am trying not to go bigger than about 5.5" OAL until I "field test" a knife in a front pocket sheath (possibly the KSF City Sheath). I am not sure how comfortable it will sit in pants being any larger than that (esp. in jeans).

Thanks again,
Sean
