Small fixed blade for EDC

My current small fixed blades for pocket carry are these: 1) Nemesis Knives Arch Ally. 2) Tom Krein TK-2.
I have recently inquired about a Charles May FireAnT.

The Benchmade 210 is very nice , the small Bark river knives are nice - generally raising few eyebrows . I like the Spyderco Moran , track the sheath into the back pocket , traditional and inconspicuous . Depends a lot on your juristiction , most LEO's I know wont get too uptite about a small barkie or 210 .

I just recently E-mailed Charles May, regarding the Fire AnT. I really want one; with the dyed bone handle.

I have been considering a small fixed blade also. I like the BM 220 and actually had one but, alas, it evidentaly grew some legs and ran off.:grumpy: It is a very nice small fixed blade and would make a great EDC. Since this thread I've been looking around and besides the BM 220, I really like the Spyderco Perrin Street Bowie, also the Rant's by Benchmade (even if they are Red class), and the one that really caught my eye, a Bob Dozier Arkansas Toothpick. The Dozier is around $50 to $60 dollars higher than the best price I can find on the Spyderco and if I'm going that high I might as well put a little extra with it and get the Dozier!

Another nice choice I just ran across is the 'Lil Chute by Bark River. Looks sorta like the Sandstorm, only scaled down to a 3.875" blade, with an overall length of 8.5". It is rather beefy with a .187" thick blade of 12C27 Sandivik steel. Comes with a nice looking kydex sheath from "Sharpshooter Systems Kydex Sheath". Lottsa handle choices from micarta to ironwood to buckeye burl and others. Best part is the price, especially for the micarta versions! Check them out at www.dlttradingcompany.com  :D

I really like the Fire AnT myself. I have placed an order for one. But, if you want something smaller than that, then I would suggest a Gene Ingram Pocket Hippo.

I'd recommend (for the below 30 USD) the K-BAR TDI.
Works well, but there do seem to be some issues with the handle (someone got their index finger torn up by chopping with it? - can't find the thread at the moment).

Never had any issues, and it comes pretty sharp, nice wide secondary bevel. The handle-blade angle is rather severe compared to most knives (CRKT Plan B, Tom Krein TK's, Daniel Koster's Kardas). Try first.

Also browse the Trading and Selling areas here on BF. Some good deals pop up now and again.

1. where do you live?

2. why is it so important that you cater to the idiots afraid of inanimate objects?

3. Just get knives that you like. I hate seeing people styling their lives around a fear of what other people might think.

If you want to put idiots at ease, claw helplessly at packages like they do, or tear at stuff with your keys.

Well I live in Canada, the city I live in was considering banning the carry of ANY knives recently, thankfully that hasn't happened yet. A lot of people are not knife lovers, I respect that and besides I have no reason to carry something that is tactical, I use a knife as a tool, not as a defence weapon.

Another vote for the BM 210, 211. If you're willing to go bigger, another vote for the Spydie Street Beat.

And therein lies the rub. You say you respect them but obviously they don't respect your rights. Banning knives?? Makes me glad I'm almost 60 years so I won't be around to see the world destroying itself over the lack of fossil fuel, water, and land or nuking a country because they have a different religion.

"Free world" goverments that sell billions in arms while killing the planet but still having time to ban the carrying of a "small sharp edge" from people that just might need it and 99.99999 percent of the time, mean no harm with it.

I love life when I'm off in the mountains alone or with a friend or my wife, sailing my boat, or listening to some good '60-'70 rock after smoking my favorite tobacco. But this world is going down the toilet fast and I feel sorry for you young folks that will have to deal with knife banning while fighting a war over oil or copper or food or whatever. How they find the time to ban knives and online gambling, etc. is beyond me.

Good luck to you all.

I recommend that you cruise on down to the Makers' For Sale area, and check out the handmade offerings there. I've bought knives there from G L Drew, David Wesner, and NWA. All of them make excellent knves at reasonable prices. You can get something unique made to your specs.

You may wish to look at one of Jim Greco's dandy little "Dangler" knives. They have a 3" blade and a haeavy leather sheath that has a snap clip that clips very nicely to your belt loop in such a manner that the whole thing slips into your hip pocket or you strong side pocket in jean cut pants. When out, it doews not have an aggressive appearance and it will hold up to pretty much anything. Further, Jim is a fine gentleman of the old school with whom to deal.

I like a bunch of knives that have been suggested.

I carry a Bark River Mikro Canadian and love it. I had a Kydex sheath made for it and it is my most comfotable carry knife horizontal on my belt. I like it better than any of my folders for EDC (I like them too, they just aren't as comfy). Very small and stout. Would not scare most people.

Bark River has a bunch of small fixed blades that would be easy carry knives. Check out dlttradingcompany.com for a large selction.

I also like the Charles May, GL Drew suggestions...
