Ah yes.....The Aviator. Now that is a cool little straight knife. I have one myself, and really like it's design. It has IMO a great thumb ramp, and a handy cutout for choking up on the blade if need be.

The one thing I don't like though is the sheath. I suppose it would be fine for others with different, more serious applications where multiple-carry options are a must, but there is just a bit too much kydex there for me personally.

I myself would prefer the sheath to be a bit more abbreviated for inside-the-waist concealed carry.

TIMBERLINE Aviator has great handle, decent steel and very nice versatile multi-carry sheath. Mine has black Ti-Ni coated blade.

Unfortunately the single drawback foils all it's advantages: following somewhat strange (let I say gently
wink.gif
) fad they made it with geometric chisel ground blade

Maybe this kind of blade could be good for knives designed for destroying only - I do not know because I'm treating the knife primarily as a tool. And geometric chisel ground blades display poor performance when used in tool role, for me at least.

Think the Aviator could be very successful knife if they would make it with flat ground or sabre ground drop point blade...

Allen Blade makes some very nice ones and very affordable too. I have a Talonite Neck knife and Cricket. I also have another Neck knife coming in carbon steel.

I also have a Crawford and it is very handy.

Try out Crawford Knives He has some great stuff. I've had a Kasper Neck Knife for a while now and love it. If it's out of your range he has some less expensive knives that are similar. Website is www.crawfordknives.com

Maurice, IWB stands for In the Waist Band. In other words, you can take a folder or a small fixed blade and slide it in your pants securing it by clipping it to the waist band of your pants. Some do this in a SOB, Small Of Back, configuration for comfort.

You could put nacho cheese sauce on it...

I also have to chime in for the Allen Blade Chipmunk !!!

Despite it's small size, it feels great in the hand and is capable of handling any number of tasks. It's extremely well made and available in Talonite, 1095, or 5160 (I think). Also - the kydex work is excellent. I modified mine for horizontal carry, and when I'm at the office or at business dinners no one even knows it's there.

I saw a Busse Basic 5 the other day for the first time. Excellent lines and proportions, reminiscent of the CS Master Hunter. Made out of INFI though. Very cool for the price. A lot bigger piece than a Mean Street though.

The Bob Dozier Companion is a great small knife that would fit the bill, just got mine today with fancy walnut scales, good blade and D2 steel, of course, make it a great combination for an everyday carry fixed bladed knife.

Check out Ragnar at ragweedforge.com. He carries a lot of nice Scandinavian (Norwegian, Finnish, Swedish) blades that might fit your requirements.

Tatsu,

Have you considered one of Jens Anso's little beauties - http://ansoknives.com

He has a beautiful knife called the City Edge which has a small drop point ATS34 blade, vine pattern filework on the spine and snakewood and mammoth ivory handles and a lovely lizardskin sheath to go with it all. Its worth a look!

Good luck with the hunting!

Could not resist!! But if the above description is correct then just get the sheath since it can be used by itself. It late!!
