Small Fixed Blade Knife???

I suggest going to agrussell.com and checking out the knives by Bob Dozier or A.G Russell.
Also make sure you look at the production knife page. They have a damascus blade beauty with a wood handle the looks very nice.

McGuyver,

There isn't a bad recommendation here, so you simply can't go wrong.

I personally have a Simonich talonite Wambli, a Rinaldi talonite Chimera, and with my sons, 5 Spyderco Morans.

One other, not already mentioned, is Melvin Dunn of Kansas. He makes some great stag handled mirror polished blades in D2, CPM440V or CPM420V among others. Price runs at $135.

Best of luck in narrowing down the field

Try Colorodo Cutlery (www.coloradocutlery.com). I have their Hunter model: 3 1/4" flat ground drop point, 1095, black linen Micarta grips, full tang, lanyard hole, useful pouch sheath, around $40 US.

For a utility fixed blade the Mike Irie with the stag scales is a great value. Nice sheath too.

Bald1,
How does one get in touch with Melvin Dunn? Does he have a web site?

The new Spyderco Moran would fit the bill rather well I think. And the new sheath is awesome as well, something that is overlooked in many small fixed blades.

If you are going to A.G.'s page anyway, be sure to check out the Marble's knives. Great stuff, reasonable prices, and a REAL lifetime guarantee.
They just refurbished my grandad's 100 year old 'ideal' at NO charge!

I make a small bird and trout pattern with a 2.75 " blade of 3/32 440C which sounds like it could fit your application.

You can see examples on my Hunting Knife page
http://www.planet.eon.net/~matth/hunt_gal.htm

If you would like something a little larger, the green micarta hunter on the same page would be suitable. I have several stock knives in process in 1/8" thick 440C and ATS34.

These knives are definately not"tactical" and come with a very sturdy leather sheath.

Joel Stave,

I don't know how you measure your blades bud, but my Fallkniven F-1 has a 4 inch blade, not a 3 3/4" blade, as you stated they come with.

The F-1's a tremendous blade, but that blade mentioned by Alberta Ed sounds good too - I'm going to have to check that one out.

Happy Trails...

Don't know where to find it on the net, but... Very cool.

Rob Simonich's Cetan Tanto would be my choice if I had the money.

I have Mike Irie Sport 200 - very nice knife and the price was good as well (I think $80.00).

I cannot resist I have to mention Boker Specialist - I am a big fan of this knife...

Hansen, my quote of 3.75 inches on the F1 was taken from the fallkniven site: http://www.fallkniven.com/a1f1/a1_en.html where it mentions a blade length of 95mm which translates to 3.74 inches.

I don't own an F1 myself, so wasn't able to check their figures. Maybe I'll have to get one...

Trace Rinaldi makes, besides the Chimera, the forum-famous TKK, available in ATS-34, BG-42, and Talonite. Very nice quality, and Trace is a gentleman to work with as well. I've been very happy with mine.
