I started to EDC my RAT Izula and it's been nice. Belt carry is
actually quite comfortable and now that I'm open to it I'm more
interested in fixed blades.

I really like the Kwaiken by Luc Burnley

But they're hard to find and a bit costly. Any suggestions as to
something similar to this but cheaper would be nice.

You guys have any good small fixed blade suggestions?

Well, they aren't real popular, but the Livesay Woos I've seen F/S aren't terribly expensive. His Executive Woo (With micarta scales) might be close to $100, but his cord wrapped Woo seems to run somewhere around $50 or so. They're 7" OAL with a 3" tanto blade & 1095 steel. Not bad.

However, there're some nice small FBs that show up in the Makers' section. Some are for very reasonable prices, too.

+1 to that.

Like you a production necker (BK11 in my case) got me hooked on EDCing small fixed blades. Now I carry a custom from one of our makers here.

Quite a few talented makers sell their work here. Everything from bare bones work knives to the more "artsy" but still functional. Something for every budget too.

Bark River makes a bunch of very nice smaller fixed blades in a variety of styles.

Check out: Bumble bee, Colonial Patch, Little Creek, Mini-Canadian, among lots of others

Dozier makes a lot of small fixed blades and their horizontal sheath is a joy to carry. Oh- they also cut very well!

Just as an FYI, Luc's Kwaiken is a relatively delicate knife. It's not going to function like a pointy Game Warden or Izula. They are cool knives though, in both sizes.

I'de check out the makers section...there are some awsome guys over there that can make you what you want !
Stomper makes a small Fixed blade for EDC callled the "E.W.O.K" it seems to be real popular -

Koyote also makes some nice "little" blades for EDC - This is his Spearpoint EDC model -

These are just a few of the great custom makers on here that I have delt with & they all 3 were Awsome to work with

How about a Mora?
Fallkniven F1
Livesay NRGS - Availability may be problematic

The Buck 'Gen5' models are often overlooked. The least expensive, the 005GYS, runs ~ $50 through the mail - and includes a horizontal belt carry sheath. Nice 3" fb - the 420HC has their wider edge bevel and hollow ground blade - and keeps it's edge. It has a charcoal grey Dymondwood handle and polished nickel silver finger guard.

For $80+ you can get the same knife in polished CPM154 with a semi-checkered rosewood grip and a brass finger guard as the 005RWS. It comes with a vertical leather sheath. I like the knife - but that handle would be better smooth, in my use. I use the 420HC one much more.

I myself am into smaller Fixed blades and have found a few that I really enjoy. I won't list them all here but I would like to advise you (if you haven't already done so) to measure either (A) a knife that you already own and find very comfortable to use or (B) your primary cutting hand from inside finger edge to edge - and check closely the specs of the knives you are considering.

I have been fortunate enough to get mostly good fits, but there are some smaller Fixed blades that I have purchased that I felt were too small for me.

I prefer a knife with No Less than a;
- 2 1/4" Blade
- 3 3/4" Underside Handle

The three finger knives (meaning the pinky finger of your cutting hand is left out) just do not feel comfortable to me so I shy away from those. Also, I've found I like a pronounced forward finger guard cutout area for safety.

Good Luck.

I love little fixed blades. Here are mine.
Charles May Fireant & Handi Scandi, Gene Ingram Pocket Hippo, Tom Krein TK-2, and a Scott Cook Owyhee.

I'm really feelin' the Owyhee, that is very nice. Where are these
available?

All the suggestions have been really helpful, thanks.
Though I think I've found another bug to drive the addiction...
