Hey Guys,

I want to get a small fixed blade with sub 4 in blade in some type of higher end steal and I want to edc it. Got anything for me?

Have you taken a look at the Chris Reeve Professional Soldier? It's a handy knife that is only a little bigger than an Izula, but packs a much bigger blade. I really like mine.

Here are some comparison shots with some relatively common folders:

The blade length is actually only a tad shorter than a Military's.

Boker Pocket Bowie, a 30 dollar little 440C fixed that comes with decent kydex. Feels good in hand, is stout in thickness, makes a nice little worker.

Thanks for the comparison pics and all the other options, If you have even more options dont hesitate to name one.

what type of budget are you working with? what type of tasks will you be using the knife for?

the A.G. Russell bird and trout in D2 ($45) is a good bang for the buck knife that fits your criteria.

I like the Chris Reeve pics above, but I'm also fan of the Boker Plus Pocket Bowie. Lots of other good small Boker Plus knives at reasonable prices too.

ESEE 3 in Rowens 1095 (Some wont consider 1095 to be a high end steel but with Rowens HT on it outperforms alot of other steels)
Bark River Bravo 2 Necker in 3V
Swamp Rat Rodent Solution in SR101 (52100)

I've never seen that Boker Pocket Bowie until now, but wow...I like it. There is so many great little fixed blades out there for many different tasks. You could always get a custom made.

Had mine a couple of years and I really like it. Comes with a bead chain, but I'm not a fan of neck knives (not for neck carry anyway). Kydex sheath will take a Tek-Lok or similiar, but I have mine on a tether, works well for me. I have my eye on the Boker Plus PSK, not available yet in the UK, but I'm going to try one when it is.

Spyderco Street Beat with G-clip. Lots of makers here on BFC offer smaller fixed blades in a variety of steel choices. You shuld check them out. ;)

A G Russell has a small Keith Murr FB called the Small Companion on his site. It's micarta and D2 steel and comes with a horizontal kydex sheath. You can set it for LH or RH carry. It's really comfortable to hold and use for a small knife. The handle is still pretty much full-sized and the finger grooves on the handle make it very secure in use.

Also, if you talk to Alan Davis in the custom FB sub-forum, he can do some very nice small FBs for you with a leather cross-draw sheath in several different steel, handle combinations. His work is top-notch and affordable.

Look at going custom if you want something special. I have bought several fixed blades from the maker's market here and every time it's been an exceptional value. My latest is one from TRC Knives and I am blown away at the quality for the price I paid.

Of course, there are some nice production knives out there as well.
