Alright "all-knowing" bladeforums people, I need your help.

I have a Maxpedition Pygmy Falcon on the way from 1sks and am wanting to add an EDC small fixed blade to the pack's shoulder strap. I carry a small Sebbie everyday and also have a Graham Brothers Wharncliffe EDC fixed blade, but there are sometimes when all you need is something small to open a package, cut open a bag, cut some 550 cord, etc and all you need is a nice small blade.

What I am wanting is something black or grey, skeleton handle or black handle, 2"-ish blade and fairly sheeple friendly, and I would love to keep it under $75. Oh yeah - I also like short "stubby blades." (not to sway your suggestions, but, things like the TOPS Wolf Pup, or the Snody Resistor BLADE TYPES are nice for this application - IMHO.)

One last thing - I will be attaching it so it is in the inverted - tip up - carry on the shoulder strap. Kydex will need to be the sheath material - consider this when suggesting a knife.

I am purposely NOT going to tell you what I have thought of so you don't have any biased suggestions - I want it from your heart!

So, give your best ideas, and also some suggestions on how to attach it to the straps...it's own sheath (MALICE applicable), plastic wire ties, velcro, etc.

Thank you for always helping us poor suckers who always have ONE MORE thing to add to their list.

Simonich Bitteroot
Nemesis Hellion
HideAway
Loco (I think that's what it's called)

One of our resident sheath makers could give you some better ideas for attchment.

Bark River has many options. The Micro Canadian or Mini Canadian would work well. If you want something a bit bigger, BR makes the Woodland and Highland that are very good too.

That's a great idea, fixing a small blade to a backpack strap. The Bitteroot would be ideal: tiny, sharp, ergonomic, and unobtrusive. The Bark River Mikro would do it, too, but you'd have to get an aftermarket sheath -- On/Scene Tactical has them.

How about this for stubby? A Ranger Knives "Little Bird".

SRKW Rat Tail. Then get a kydex sheath from someone who has a Rat Tail, such as David Brown. You will be all set. Production price, tough as nails steel, and a professional cord wrap by Wally Hayes. You cant go wrong! :D

Since the loss of Mr. Simonich - where does one view and/or find a Bitterroot? I have seen a few -on their website - but how much are they, what options are there, etc? Thanks for the suggestions - keep them coming!

Like the Ranger knife suggestion as well.

Emerson La Griffe or Spyderco SPOT.
Also another vote for the BRKT Mikro Canadian, or if you want really cheap get the AG Russell Woodswalker with a kydex sheath.

Becker Knife & Tool Companion, TUFF, STURDY, SHARP, AND HALF SERRATED. &35.00 at a pawn shop(outside Ft. Campbell KY Home of the 101st Airbourne Airassault Division, where like new knives are in every pawnshop around.)AWESOME KNIFE!!!!! :D

Christine Simonich is supposed to be getting some mid-techs finished in the not to distant future from what I hear. I would the think the Bitterroots would be a part of that. Its a great little knife. You may want to think about a Crowfoot, a little outside you length requirement, but check it out...

I just got a Pygmy Falcon. Its a great pack.

It's small, yes...But sharp, sturdy, and cheap enough to buy a few of them. I had a WOO from Livesay attached to my pack strap for a while, and spent a summer with a BUSHI attached with 100 MPH tape.

Figure out what your task will be, then go with something along that size. You may find that all you need is a little neck knife that you can attach to your pack. Give the little pieces from FALKNIVEN a peek. I rek'mnd the WM1.

Another suggestion for the Bitteroot. Really handy little knife, and one of the few that I traded away that I REALLY regret getting rid of.

OK - I am loving the sugestions of the Bitterroot and the Hellion - however, the Bitterroot is next to improssible to find anywhere.

Is the Hellion a safe "second" or would you go for the SPOT or the BM Tether?

How about the TOPS series - something like the Wolf Pup? Please add commenst and suggestions AND if anyone reading this has a Bitterroot they are interested in selling - let me know.
