You learned a lesson (I hope) about not calling attention to your knife unnecessarily. Open it as quietly as possible, cut with it quickly and efficiently, and get it back in your pocket, without fanfare. Remember that most folks don't carry a knife, these days and don't understand why anyone else would, either.

These are words of wisdom. I heartily agree on that , whatever the knife you will choose.
Dragonfly or mini grip are my best choices for edc. I love more the mini grip but here is better to carry more a smaller blade and I usually carry more the dragonfly.
If you environs is particularly sensible, well, go for a SAK and you will never go wrong
