Small Folder Anvil

I am going to make a three(base, leg, and face) piece anvil for folder construction similar to ones discussed on this forum in the past. I have a pc of 1" 0-1 for the face. After machining this face what R hardness should I shoot for. There will be a stepped ledge and at thinnist it will be 3/16", but generally it will be a full 1" thick. Want to harden so that peining pins does not dent or mar the surface, etc. Thanks.
