Small Folder That Locks Closed and Open

If an auto is an option you can look at something like the Mini UMS by Microtech. I have one in Olive Drab. Great great little knife. I love that thing. About the same size as a Chive only a full auto. $99 usually. Got mine from Tad Gear. 154CM steel, and a great tactical sheath along with a thin profiled blade that is akin to a pocket razor. The blade locks closed and opened.

If it were legal carry here where I live I'd have it on me all the time.

The Boker Toplock is a manual knife (not an auto) that locks in both open and closed position.

https://www.bokerusa.com/default2.asp
and look at "online catalog" the click on "Boker Toplock"

Basically it is an auto without a spring. So you have to push the button,
manually open the blade and then it locks open.
To close, you push the button, manually close the blade and it locks closed.

Hope this helps

Unfortunately I assisted openers and gravity knives are not legal. So far I will be considering the Boker Toplock and CRKT BladeLock. Too bad neither of them have a good steel. If there are any other sugestion please continue to post them I will be looking for a little while.

BTW: Does AUS4 have beter edge retention compared to 420?

AUS4 is seeing relatively new use in the knife world. Only recently have I seen it, and only on low end CRKT knives. You can probably expect it to be similar to 420J. Which unfortunately isn't very flattering.

Probably a bit smaller than you are considering; but, I have a William Henry Spryte that locks both open and closed with its button lock. I use it as a keychain knife. The blade is ATS 34 and the handles titanium.

Opinel Locked open and closed, cheap as dirt, excellent blade, cuts like hell.

Don't settle for AUS-4 on the BladeLock. CRKT just started using it. If you call around, or look carefully on eBay, you should be able to find a "new old stock" BladeLock in the original AUS-6M.

I have an older BladeLock, and I love it. The lock works very well, and the knife overall is solid as a rock, with decent ergonomics. One of my favorite knives no one else seems to know about.

Don't forget about that Benchmade Benchmite. _Great_ little pocketknife that locks in both positions and is too pretty to offend most people. reasonably comfortable for such a small, thin knife, too. Only drawbacks are the relatively high price and the lack of a pocket clip.

Jimmy Lile made a large & small version of his 'Lile-Lock' folder. Might be hard to find but they're in a class of their own. The small version was a 3" or a little less.

Kershaw boa has a lock on it. But, I think it's 3.4 , so never mind! How about the Mini Mojo? It's stud lock is supposed to help keep it in the locked position.(Or so I have read....)

It does keep it in the closed position. I had to be shown how to open it (after which it was very easy) so it's unlikely to accidentally open.

I'm not sure if you've already found what you are looking for, but I have to agree with Steven. I have a Benchmite and love it. It meets your criteria. Good luck!

I hate that knife. Because I love that knife. :D

The great-long-handle paired with the short-broad-full-flat-ground-blade really, really does it for me. It's a real beauty, and looks like it'd perform pretty well, too. 'Cept some crazy person made it lock halfway, turning it into a pushknife, which's questionably legal in all kinds of places. The design itself's beautiful and functional, but the gimmick kills it. Missed opportunity, that.
