Small Folders!!!

I would really like to comfortably carry small folders, but I have not found one yet that feels comfortable in my hand.

My sweet spot is around a 4" blade.

My under 3" blade EDCs are 1998 Case 63032, SAK cadet, Opie#6,
1982 Queen jack (9105).
While doing yardwork or in the woods usually slip the Schrade USA
SW-7 in the back pocket.
Easy extraction and one hand opening sure are handy when other hand already in use.

my small knives consist of spyderco native, microtech mini socom, and a mini grip. The thing I like about them is they can slip right in your pocket, no clip needed. When I go fishing though I always have either my endura or my 710.

Almost every knife I own now is sub 3" I have a Pacific Salt and a BM 710 for my larger blades, when I feel I need them.

My normal EDC is a small Sebenza, and one of the following: Case Sodbuster JR, Vic Cadet, Vic Soldier, or Queen Copperhead. The Seb can handle any tough chores, and the other knives are generally people friendly, and the Vics are very versatile.

The smallest I EDC is a Spyderco Jester that floats around in my front pocket. When it comes to cutting tape, opening letters, or light duty it is perfect.

I do like small knives: Opinel #3, Spyderco Ladybug 3 H1, SAK Classic... All excellent. And of course my custom friction folder with 2.2" blade and Victorinox Pioneer / Solider alox with around 2.2" blade... I don't need much larger than 3" EDC knife. My 3" is Now Spyderco Caly3 or Delica 4. I should get tomorrow two new EDC rotation spydies: Delica 4 FFG blue FRN 3" and Spyderco Urban Foliage green sub 3"...

3" and smaller blade are usually very handy... Besides MacGyver had only victorinox :D It ain't the size but how you use it... Now I think that is pretty true when it comes urban knives.

I really like larger knives better, but I usually end up carrying smaller (<3") blades for EDC. Go figure.

I'm a small folder guy too. My largest is my Pacific Salt. Everything else is Mini Grip/Delica/Caly3 sized or smaller.

The only folder that I usually carry that is under three inches, are the SAKs. However three inches is probably about perfect for a folder. If I want something longer I would go to the fixed blade. One exception, The Endura.

Largest I usually carry for folders is three inches max. If I need a larger knife, it's probably going to be a fixed blade. It's just that most tasks I come across only require light slicing and cutting duties, and a peanut handles both just fine.

So I find my self to recently be in a small knife kick... I'm usually good for an sNg , Large sebenza , XM -18 , ect... But have been really enjoying these !!! Is this normal? I feel I am cheating by using these bastard mini knives lol!!! Ever happpen to you?

I thought the SnG was a small knife.

I also carry a Spyderco Cricket as a money clip. Its small and a good looking durable knife with a G10 blade made in Japan. I've been carrying it daily in my pocket for the last 7 years. I've also had it concealed in my hand a number of times when I was in a tough spot.

There's small, and then there's small. Limiting oneself to a less than 3" blade doesn't really define the small category, IMO. When you define small as less than 3" closed, then you're talking small folders.

small pocket knives are needed / used more then the larger ones , most of the time anway......
so...just incase I carry 2 folders

one almost always seems to be a SAK , and a larger locking single blade...

I usually carry a LEEK, but occasionally carry a Boker Wharcom, and find it very usable. Have always wanted a Spyderco DoDo and/or Yohimbo which seem like very functional small knives.
My daughter loves her small Byrd Robin G-10
