Small game hunting witha slingshot

i just ordered a slingshot from trumark I'll let you now how it works out....I gre up in Schoharie county NY...anywhere by you??

The NY warnings are on Trumark's website so I doubt they will be sending you anything with a wrist brace on it. My Uncle Eugene lives in Schenactady. Hope I spelled it correctly. I have not seen him since my Dad died in 1982, Dad and I went up there a couple years before he died and it was some of the most beautiful country, really a stunning place.

Too bad it's controlled by a city of idiots, just like Maryland...just like Illinois. Entire states controlled by morons, racists and terrified idiots.

Non-braced slingshots are a bit harder to learn and you have to have more wrist and forearm strength but that's easily handled in a few weeks. Lots of practice.

If someone told me they had a body or head shot on small game and it did not die from lead or steel balls launched from a wrist-rocket, I would be amazed.

Some game can "jump the arrow" or "jump the string" of a bow, you get the same thing with the tubing or flat bands of a slingshot...sometimes. Steel will give you a bit of an edge over that happening as the steel is a tad bit faster but terminally speaking, lead or steel will both kill small game. .50 Cal. / 1/2 inch diam. or slightly larger is excellent ammunition. White marbles and relatively round rocks are also killers.

If you're serious about using them for survival, get a hawk call and take it out and learn to use it. When you can make a rabbit freeze in his tracks, you have learned to use a hawk call. Stick it out of the opposite side of your mouth, obviously, from the pouch anchor area, unless you want to put your Dentist's kids through college. 8-)

I am in northern Cayuga. Not far from Lake Ontario.

Trumark might send you a slingshot with a brace if its removable. Let me know how you make out.

Mine is a Trumark, with the folding wrist brace. The brace is easily removed. They also sell models without. Most companies do. Interestingly, I'm a better shot without the brace, and I can pull back just as far.

Yeah I deliberately ordered one with out a wrist brace...My old one doesn't have one....and I'd like to keep things legal...although I must admit a wrist brace helps alot...My wrists and forearms are up to the task although I sprained my wriat in judo last night...(hopefully it'll feel better by the time my slingshot arrives.

The NYS law as shown on the Trumark page also states that "possess any firearm" is part of the definition of "criminal possession of a weapon". Possessing a firearm isn't illegal in NY for the most part, so I think more analysis is in order. Further down it also includes "with intent to use the same unlawfully against another". I think there is certainly some deliberate ambiguity here and intent has a lot to do with the way laws are interpreted. Being on the safe side means avoiding braced sling shots, but darn it that also means giving up your rights willingly for no lawful reason.

I think there is a difference also in waling down a city street with a slingshot in your back pocket, or having one in a possibilty bag while in the bush...I went on a nice hike this week and took my old one along to play around with, I had a blast I wsa using acorns as ammo and targeting stumps...I had a friend of mine along who is a little more of a city boy but is starting to come around.. I let him take a couple of shots at a large rock formation and he looked like he'd just ridden a rollercoaster (took to it like a duck to water)...certaily in the bush there is little intent in using a slingshot on another individual....however If that was all i had and the chips were down I'd certainly give it a whirl....
