Would anyone with hands on experience skinning and cleaning small game have any ideas as to the perfect Busse. Size and thickness/model would be great. Thanks,

Id say the best Busse knife out now to skin and clean small game would be the thinner game wardens, high street, BAD, leaner meaner and the hack. There is a hack out with a convex edge on it that would make a sweet small game skinning knife. If a thinner version of the BOSS Street comes out, that would make a sweet small game knife.

I noticed there are several that look like they would work well. The problem I have is not being able to put my hands on them to compare them. You know like you'd mentioned the different thicknesses. Something on the thin side I guess would be best. Thanks,

Silly question but, has anybody out there actually used a Pork Belly Skinner for skinning and cleaning? Just a thought.
Pete

All the ones i mentioned are thin. I think the BAD is the thinnest at .125" thick, the leaner meaner is .187", GW's are from .140" - .220", high street is thin too, don't know the thickness, hack is pretty thin too. I have a hack and will try to get a pic up of it today. It was made for skinning, but havn't seen to many of this version around. Are you mainly squirrel and rabbit hunting? A Scrapyard Knife, Bird Dog LE is a great small game knife too. I use that in the kitchen all the time and its a great little knife.

Personally, I wouldn't use a Busse for small game. They are too large, too heavy, and too thick. I would much rather use a small fixed blade from one of the other quality manufacturers. YMMV

I have used my Busse Game Warden to gut, skin, and butcher a deer I got this year though. Worked fantastic!! I am hoping to get a black bear this spring and plan to use my SAR4 on it.

Yes It'll mainly be for squirrels and rabbits, Me and acouple of buddies got 21 rabbits monday morning. Kinda want something for cutting through the leg bones/gutting cleaning.

Thanks Trev thats quite the Impressive selection. How about the second picture from the bottom display of pictures. The first knife at the top by your hat. That looks like it might work.

must.........have.......HACK............NOW!!!

HAK

:D I hear ya . I love em. It reminds me so much of my first deer knife . THe 152 OT. Side by side they are not really close but by itself the convex Hack brings back memories:cool::thumbup:

Yeah:)

That snakeskin ad works real well. Original saber grind and thin:thumbup:

I would have to double check but I think its .150 like the aba. Its a little thicker than BAd and doesnt have nearly as thin a tip which I like better.
However thats cause I used it on deer and not squirrrles, or rabbitts. I prefer the cult due to more belly and more sweep to the tip. It allows the edge to slide off bones and stay out of crevaces, vertebrae etc. Example: Cutting out a tenderloin in a deer. The ad point wants to dig into every vertebrae instead of sliding down and skipping off each one. I am sure I could avoid it if I changed the angel a little but the cult just works better for me.

Nice pics Knife Hunter. Thats the hack I was talking about...nice little skinning blade.

I still have a couple of the 152 Old Timers and still use them on deer.

I like that OJ Warden. Thats the next Busse on my want list.

Yea Banana-clip that warden looks sweet too. Orange Be alittle harder to lose in the leaves and brush also.
