I decided that it is time to make some real knives from my home smelted steel for sale.
Here is a Small Game Skinner.

Home made steel. I smelted it in the small crucible and hand forged it fom the ingot to the shape. Then I ground it and sanded to the 600 grit and etched to reveal the pattern. This is high carbon steel, not a stainless. It has to be taken care of.
The blade is 3-1/4" long, about 1/8" thick at the bolster and nicely tapered to the tip. 3/4" wide at the widest. Flat ground and the edge is very thin. The HRC is estimated as 56-58, but for this kind of steel it does not mean much. This is the knife to cut soft stuff, it will dull on the hard materials like metal. Should be OK on bones though.

The hanle is deer antler piece. It is 3-3/4" long. The bolster is the Sterling Silver. The butt is inlayed with a piece of Sterling Silver for your monogram or some engraving. It is roughly polished. The bead is the tip of the same antler piece.
The sheath is hand made from 6-8Oz leather. A bit stamped along the seam and the throat. Treated with leather balm and carnauba wax.
The knife is completely hidden in the sheath. The bead helps to take it out.
My brand is engraved as i did not have the stamp at a time yet.
Sharp, ready to go.

I was asking $185 shipped CONUS.
Now the price has been rised to $200

Thank You.

Wow - you really smelted the steel? What are you going to do to top that - dig the ore yourself?

Pull it up. Sorry I can not reduce the price. The wootz steel is too hard to make and it has to pay off my expences at least.
