I talked to Chuck just after the new year about making me a small folder for dress carry . We had talked over several options but the one thing I wanted most was bolsters that could be engraved, well really two things , a Stainless Damascus blade in a useful pattern.

Chuck set out to put together a pretty but still useful knife , as anyone who has seen my post knows I USE my knives . Well, we went thru several e-mails and many , many material use ideas and lord knows how many blade shape changes ( I am amazed Chuck still has hair ), finally I just told Chuck that he had my general idea in mind and to just go at it . I had seen a knife he did some time ago but could not remember the scale material , all I could tell him was it had lots of colors , like blues and browns etc. ( some knife guy ehh. , that sounds like a fu fu interior design guy ) . Well the finished knife is just what I wanted !!

The blade is 3"x 5/8" Norris Stainless Damascus, Ti liners anodized blue with moderate file work and a fully filed backbar , The scales are beautiful Mammoth with the same colors as I had seen on the other knife. Chuck even inlaid a pearl blade rest inside the knife and also the thumb stud .

This is my first custom by Chuck but he had done 2 customizing jobs for me before , I have really enjoyed working with him everytime and look forward to getting a few more done in the future . Thanks Chuck for the great job and I hope you all like it as well .

Regards,
Jerry

Jerry, glad you got a knife you like so well that looks so good. Chuck does excellent work. The pattern on the reverse side of the blade looks like goggles. That mammoth ivory has great colours.

Thanks Keith.. My son and youngest daughter said the same thing about the B side . It does seem to be looking back at you . I have never had Mammoth on one before but really like the colors that it brings to a knife . Thanks again and how is your Bowie #1 project going .

Regards,
Jerry

Very nice knife Jerry - I like the darker-coloured mammoth ivory and that's great-looking damascus as well. I'd have a hard time using a knife that pretty, but as long as you're comfortable with it...:)

Cheers,

Roger

I love it! It has a classic understated shape and the choice of materials is perfect. I have handled Chuck's knives and they work as good a they look.

The filework is engaging as is the liners. Nice touches.

What you bought was a relationship with the maker. You got a knife out of it as a bonus! ;) I'm pleased for BOTH of you men. Win-win. :)

Thanks for the post.

Thanks Roger and Coop...

Roger, I won't be using her for any tough task :) , but still carrying her and doing what a small folder does.

Coop, I agree totally !! You know how I feel about working with you guys who treat people right( you are in that crowd as you well know).I trust your little one is resting better at night now . All the best to you and your wife , what a great time in a married couples life when the first born comes along .

Thanks for the nice words and for looking--

Jerry
