Small Jackknives

This medium stockman has lots of blade in a compact size, and with a punch, will answer a lot of calls for service!! Carried but little-used, this one is close to being a safe Queen!! 6318P!! Just under 3 5/8"!!View attachment 2603328View attachment 2603329View attachment 2603330

Oh man, than one is fantastic, Charlie! And with a punch?! I always have to google Case tang stamps, is that 1940-1964, or am I looking at it wrong? You can just tell from your picture that clip point is nice and thin behind the edge, which hasn’t been the case with a lot of more recent Case knives I’ve had. Thanks for sharing that one (it’s going on my mental list of things to keep an eye out for). 😁

As far as non-work carry, as Jackknife said now that I'm retired I carry a small knife most of the time. I'll clip a big knife to my belt or pocket when I'm doing yard work and the like but a small knife in my watch pocket is the usual carry. Thing about a really small knife is that you never worry about taking it out. I've cleaned my nails with a small jackknife in line at Target where the estrogen is thick in the air.

So, small knife = more use. Like, anytime, anywhere.

btb01 btb01 Jumping in for Charlie here Barrett, that one is a 1940-64 the Golden Redbone Era. The later stamp looks a bit different in font but has USA underneath it 1965-69, fine knives too but Charlie's is one the best CASE I've seen..so far.....;)

Here are some smaller Case knives; an XX, a USA and two Dotted, to illustrate the stampings!!

I visit elementery schools for my work. To keep it acceptable I made this small one as my work knife.
It has a 1 5/8" blade, just large enough to cut an apple from both sides.
It may look cute, but it is very sharp!

In principle and in theory
I too prefer a smaller knife

In practice...I keep losing them
So I prefer them being heavy enough to feel in pocket because then I notice if they are .. missing

I consider a Small Knife to be 3 & 1/2 inch and under in length . I only carry a small knife when we are going to be out and about with friends . Around the house , I will always have at least one that is 3 & 5/8 " or bigger . From Spring through Fall and I am outside there will always be a Fixed Blade close at hand either on me or in the Gator Tool Box . I do have some small knives that I really like and carry but I have almost never used them . I have most of them just because they are a Northfield pattern .
