Just cleaned this one up for local rancher/horsetrainer. New sheath too and tightened the old one up:

Rose wood handle. Interesting how the UV light of the sun darkened up the part of the handle exposed from the sheath. Kinda cool:

John what is the copper colored tool to the left of the tippet?

That's a firestarter rod, I forget the name, it's an Exotac, but they're pretty ubiquitous and I keep several of 'em in various bags. You unscrew the magnesium rod, flip it around, and then the frag-patterned outer cover becomes the handle.

I've certainly used a few of those up in my time!! But yeah, I edited my original comment, the one J. Doyle has there is an Exotac. They're really nice.

Yes sir....as Quiet said, its an exotac i believe that model is the nano striker. I really like it and like that it has all replaceable parts.

Imo, the striker leaves a little to be desired. It works OK but its pretty small. If your hands are wet/cold it isn't the easiest to use.

I ground a sharp edge on my victorinox executive file and that works MUCH better. I always carry the two in the same pocket so I always have both on me anyway.
