I once tried to sell a Winchester 94 in 45-70 to a good friend, who actually chastised me for not offering it to him from the start. I explained that he lived in California, and it would be less problematic for him to forge one than to buy one and have it shipped to his home state.
But, you know, he had to try.
It was a slightly chastened person who contacted me to tell me he couldn't buy it.

And now we'll probably all see how it is in California...... I still hold out hope but not much.
