has anyone seen small kukris, say with about a 4" or less blade. i've been told that some regular kukris come with mini companion knives or skinners about that size. the reason i ask is i would like one for daily utility carry (small enough not to scare the natives), does such an animal exist?

Hi Rob:

The answer is yes. A small 6 inch version is available and we've talked about it in some thread that I can't remember. It is usually called a kagas katne, paper cutter, and is used as a letter opener.

A few years ago our shop made 50 pieces with horn handle and spring steel blade zone hardened just like the big khukuris. I gave them away to valued customers as Christmas presents from HI. I am seriously thinking about having 50 or a 100 made this year for the same purpose. If you want one let me know and I'll put your name on the mailing list.

Uncle Bill put me down for three. I know my cousin would love one of those. Perhaps I could get him a villager to.

I have seen quite a few small knives around at the flea markets that had a blade made to resemble the khukhuri. These were very low quality and likely have poor steel. I think the manufactures were trying to capitolize on the reputation of the khukhuri.

A very small fully functional H.I. khukhuri is a very tough pocket knife. The recurve will improve cutting on such things as rope, and cloth.

Bill,

Are you kidding? Five bucks and some shipping for a 6" khukuri. Wow! You can add me to the list.

Hello Bill

That sounds like a dandy item. I would like to order two. I'll pay you when they come in.

Ok, sing and Mike. You are logged in. Just talked to Nepal and placed the order. I'm hoping to see some in a couple of months.

Pls put me on that list for one unit of this 6 incher kagas katne, Pakcik Bill. One thing ~ pls hold down the shipment for a little while when it comes in ~ I am still looking for a new import agent ! Insya-Allah, I'll email you the address when I get one.

BTW, what is the spec for this 6 incher, Pakcik Bill ?

(NOTES : The pronunciation for the word PAKCIK is like the combination of pronunciation to PARK + CHICK ~ Hopefully you like it !)

I want one of those too! Put me on the list.
