Small kuks

12 inch AK villager. Villagers generally have slightly longer handles. Ideal, once you realize you are only cutting sufficient wood, not ALL wood you encounter. :)

Good luck.

I have a Bilton. It's a great little knife, but as others have said, it's really a bit too small to really chop with, and the handle is a bit on the small side. a straight line from the tip to the cho is about 4 1/2 inches on mine.

I recently started moving away from having full on camp fires when I go backpacking. I got a Little Bug wood burning stove, which burns twigs and small branches. I'm thinking that the Bilton may be a good choice for processing that kind of wood, so I'm working on a more functional sheath for it so I can take it out and give it a try. I figure I really just need to notch most of the branches to control where they break and help make sure they break clean, and then just snap them by hand or over my knee. And I think if I want or need to chop through a few thicker branches - say about wrist thck or so - and then quarter them by batoning, the Bilton should be able to handle that too. I'll definitely post a report if/when I try it out.
