Small Low Profile Fixed Blades

I am in the market for a low profile fixed blade, something like an Izula or Eskabar but with a little more flavor or character.

Looking for a sub 3" blade that isn't too thick overall, with a blade stock no thicker than 3/16", for potential neck or front pocket carry.

Price range would be something like $100-$200.

I am not looking for a dedicated neck knife, like the Brous Blades Silent Soldier, rather a full handled, full tanged knife, small and thin enough for potential neck carry.

Blade style preferred would be a drop point, clip point, or wharncliffe.

I was looking at the Wilkins Mini Thorn Tactical and was wondering if anyone else has any other suggestions that I should consider. Any pictures you guys can post would be appreciated as well.

Thank you in advance for your time and knowledge.

While it's a lot cheaper than your range, I've always though the CRKT Minimalist was a neat little knife. It comes in a Bowie and a wharncliffe blade.

Take a look at some Bark River offerings, they have several small knives that would fit your description. There's also the Fallkniven WM-1.

I just got a TOPS Tibo and really am pleased with it. It might serve your purpose, although it might be a bit small for your intent. But it is difficult to conceal a neck knife much above 7" in length unless you are huge. An Izula 2 might be the ticket.

The ESEE Candiru is a great little knife.

Yea, I have always wondered about the Candiru, I have 2 Izulas that I absolutely love, was hoping to find something that had a little cleaner finish to it. If I were to carry a Candiru I think I would just opt to carry one of my Izulas. I know TKC offers G10 scales for the Izula, however they fatten the handle of the knife by up to 9/16" in some places. Thanks for the suggestions, some day I am sure I will have to pick one up. Maybe a SS Candiru... if ESEE ever delivers on their SS and Uncoated blades.

Busse Mean Street. I'm getting one once I find the opportunity.

Not familiar with this at all. I will definitely have to check it out, thanks!

Thanks for the suggestion, I will have to check out the Tibo, I think I have seen that one and it reminded me of an Izula. I am not so concerned about concealed neck carry, as it is for pocket carry in urban environments and neck carry whilst out backpacking, so open carry.

Thank you for the reminder, I remember looking at a Bark River Gunny and thinking it was a beautiful knife, as well as the Bark River Necker, they had both completely slipped my mind. I am unfamiliar with the Fallkniven WM-1, I will have to check it out!

I did not realize that CRKT had a version of the Minimalists. I had looked at Alan Folts offerings in 154CM but had worried that the handle while being incredibly ergonomic looking, would not offer enough control during difficult cutting tasks. I looked into some other Folts designs and the SPEW is growing on me. I came across an image of a modified SPEW with a reverse tanto tip that looks beautiful. Thanks for the suggestion, might be worth me trying the CRKT priced Minimalist and if it speaks to me investing in the Folts direct version.

I have been wearing a tanto version of the CRKT Folts minimalist for a year. it has a lanyrd that acts almost as a extra grip for your pinky finger, I love it. Its very cofortable too

I would consider a Tibo an "ergonomically improved" Izula, although I cannot compare quality or durability. The blades are essentially identical, but I like the grip shape and jimping on the Tibo much better.

If it is for open carry I would suggest making or purchasing custom handles for it, or just getting an Izula II. I plan to make some out of 1/8" G-10 or micarta.

I was looking for kind of the same thing.
I suggest you find a custom maker that will make what you are looking for. That's was I did.

From the shop of Bryan Breeden (Actually he let me make it in his shop with his help.)

Look around the exchange and you can find a used Dozier Personal or similar at the high end of your price range. They are trim and could serve as a necker if needed

Spyderco Enuff has a 2.75" blade of either VG-10 or H-1 (very corrosion resistant). Blade shapes are clip point or leaf and even full serrated sheepfoot.

The Bonner Pocket Butcher, custom fixed blade right in your price range, pocketable and quite attractive with good steel.

You could get a Alan Folts custom minimalist, better blade steel an more color choices than the CRKT version. Or the new Ka-Bar necker its name escapes me but its essentially a scaled down USMC style blade and a skeletonized handle. Not sure if they offer scales for it, but it looks around the same size as an izula 2 .

You know, it's always on me so I tend to just forget about it until I need it, but here's an idea...how about the $16 Cold Steel Super Edge?

I've really grown fond of it after having it for so long. It's rugged, tough and up for anything. I've put mine through extensive and varied use, and it holds up great! I think AUS8A is the perfect steel for this knife because it's really easy to sharpen, which is particularly important for a serrated knife in my opinion, and it holds that edge pretty well (Cold Steel's heat treatment is top notch).

The sheath is absolutely perfect and comes with a key ring. I keep mine on my keys. The handle is as good as it gets IMO, nice and sticky, comfortable, injection molded kraton.

Unfortunately it only comes serrated, but it certainly does the job! The finish on mine is shot to hell after so much use (you can barely make out the knife's name and "COLD STEEL MADE IN JAPAN" on the blade), but it's a basic satin finish, no big deal.

It is of course way under the price point you've set - so cheap you can just throw it into whatever order you decide to make.

You can get a small custom suitable for neck carry for the price point that you've set.

Also check out the Benchmade Instigator.
