Small Manual Flippers with 2.25-3.25 inch Blades

Has the Shirogorov Neon made the list? If not, it should have, it's a simple, well-made knife with a 3.25-inch blade.

Hi Ram,

I'd forgotten that I posted in this thread last December and promised pics of my North Arm Skaha when I got it. Someone just "liked' that post which reminded me.

Like I said back then, the Skaha is just slightly larger than your 3.25" criterion at 3.3", but carries and handles extremely lightly at 3.1 oz. This is achieved at least partially by the knife being a linerless liner lock, with the lock bar ingeniously tied in by the tip-up-only clip screws.

The knife has G10 scales and an S35VN blade riding on miniature ballbearings and is actuated by a flipper tab. The CNC cut blade is highlighted by the retained milling marks which is North Arm's signature look.

The handle is just a taste long for a smallish knife at 4.4" which makes it a decent fit for my old arthritic carpenter's paws. This is a nice little flipper that finds time in my pocket when smaller or lighter is called for or as a second carry in the bottom of my left front under my wallet.

Listed below are a number of nice manual flippers coming up with blade lengths of 2.75"-3.00". Please post if you hear of more.
  • Viper Storm (titanium frame lock, Hinderer collaboration)
  • Steel Will Cutjack Mini (steel liner lock, made by Viper)
  • RaidOps Centauro Mini CF (titanium frame lock, made by Viper)
  • Hogue X-1 (Button Lock)
  • Spyderco Hanan (Compression Lock)
  • HEAdesigns Antidote (titanium frame lock)
  • HEAdesigns Poison (titanium frame lock)
In my regular EDC, I mostly (90%+) carry flippers with blade lengths very near 3 inches (ideally 2.99 inches).

The Hanan and Storm look interesting but out of that list the one that looks the most intriguing to me is the Cutjack Mini.

Steel Will Cutjack Mini made by Viper Knives of Italy should be at U.S. dealers this month for about $144 with either blue or black G-10 and 3" blade of M390!

It's the ergonomics that really attracts me to the Cutjack Mini. It looks like it should fit the hand very nicely. Of course I could be wrong about that, I felt that way about the Sage 2 when I saw it online but when I got it in hand it felt kind of awkward for me.

Good ergonomics are objective but in the end kind of subjective. With flipper tabs you do lose a certain portion of handle length to grab on while gaining a secure hold with the tab acting as a guard. Personally, I'm okay with three fingers on the handle.

Millit is releasing the Torrent a 3-inch framelock flipper this week. They are also supposed to come out with a smaller version of their Max Evolution.

Received my Steel Will Cutjack Mini made by Viper Knives of Italy. It has great size and ergos. The G-10 has medium texture. M390 blade is sharp, centered, no play at all and solid lock up. The action is the best of any Italian made flipper I've had. It will deploy no matter how you hold it. They're all individually numbered and mine is serial# 272. I like the placement of the lanyard hole so that the clip is placed as far back as possible. The jimping on the backspacer is very nice but the jimping on the blade spine, flipper tab and liner lock are a little too aggressive. The one that bothers me the most is the flipper tab jimping not for deployment but for when you hold the folder because it rubs on your index finger. By the way, the blade and handle choils are spot on for solid grip. Very good value at $145 for an Italian made bearings flipper with M390. It weighs in at 3.43 ounces (the steel liners have been skeletonized) with a blade length of 3.00" that's 0.115" thick. They could do with less writing on the blade.

That Cutjack is sweet, RamZar RamZar . The blue G10, bright steel hardware, and satin blade with fine grind lines make for a really handsome knife. The downturned handle swell looks like it makes for a solid 3-finger grip. With the M390 that sure is a lotta knife for 145 bucks.

I'm with you on all the writing, though. My favorite ZT (you know how busy they are) is my pimped 0801 with everything sanded off the blade except the serial number. I hate having a billboard for a blade.

Wow that looks amazing! Wish I would have known I would have got in on the pre-order!

Received the Kizer Envoy. It's one of their best titanium frame lock (with steel insert) ceramic bearings flippers and for just $137!

It deploys every time but the detent is not too strong. It's almost identical in size to a Small Sebenza 21. Thin 0.115" FFG blade of S35VN that's 2.97" long. Weighs only 2.82 ounces. Nice deep carry titanium pocket clip.
