small minded regulations

i was gonna mention SAKs (Midnite Manager is pretty sweet) and Ladybug (i carried both today)

but the SAK doesn't lock, and neither have clips...

If you're not adverse to carrying a fixed blade, I'd highly recommend any of KaBar's Law Enforcement models. Very durable, and the handle design is extremely practical.

Should this thread not be in the Knife Laws Forum?
I think it looks good here. The problem started with the law, but it's really a quest for a good carry knife with that as only one characteristic.

I gotta say, it's a good thread. A lot of us have been in the position of needing a smaller knife, for work, for utility, not because of legal or social restrictions. When I go to open a carton (like with a new knife in it! :) ) I reach for a very small blade, not a big bowie that's going to pierce the box, the padding, and the items inside!

As many of you know, I am in the position of having to have smaller kniives, both for work and for carrying into Washington, DC. I work in a federal agancy where 18USC930 holds sway and the legal length on a pocketknife is 2.5". The maximum length in DC is 3". So I have a number of knives that qualify, almost all Spydercos.

I'd suggest a Bark River IMP. Nice-sized handle, short stout blade. Better option than the Mikro or Mini Canadians, since their handles are very tiny.

Thanks for the tips guys.
The Mouse looks pretty good but I think I'll follow Esav's advice and look for a Spyderco just out of appreciation.
Rebeltf, I'm bidding on a Meerkat, too bad about the steel utilized.
It is funny but a HAK Sting and a Midnight Manager are a part of my EDC (along with a S&W 442 or M&P9 or a Glock 17 ).
