I've noticed a very small cutout/notch on the inside of the pivot hole of the blade of my sebenza. What is the purpose of this notch/cutout? Is it to trap dirt or excess lubricant? I've also noticed that the legnthwise cut to seperate the lockbar from the handle goes farther than it needs to. Is there a reason for this?

Thanks,
Johnny

This is the detent that the mating ball bearing in the handle slab rests in when closed. If you close the blade very carefully and slowly, just before it is completely closed, you will feel the blade drop the final 1/16" by itself. This acts as a sort of lock to keep the blade from opening inadvertantly in your pocket.
Cheers,
Lenny

Lenny,

I am not talking about the detent. I'm talking about a cutout on the inside of the pivot hole of the blade.

JoHnYKwSt,
I've noticed what you're talking about. I think it's like you said, a space for grease and dust to work themselves out. The tolerances are really tight on the bushing and the blade. I think that notch just gives it "breathing room". As you can tell from my terms, I am far from being an engineer or a machinist. That's just my guess. Just my $.002.

Them:"What's that clipped to your pocket, a beeper?"
Me:"Uuh....yeah, something like that."
