Looks like an old Puma Jagdnicker.
That may or may not be a chrysanthemum carved into the handle but it doesn't look like the Imperial seal of Japan that would have been used at the time.

"DUMA" Tang stamp. Seems odd to me that a Japanese soldier would have a knife with the tag stamp in English.

I'm not familiar with the brand or Mountain Mark. Sorry.

Edit: Arathol types faster than me.

Thanx for info on the knife, I was very young when I heard the story😁
I allways have wondered about the chrysanthemum!!
Thanx again, have got a few more I'll send somtime👍👍

An old German "Puma" brand. Sometimes called a boot knife. Side embellishment (Imperial crest ? rather crude) added by Japanese soldier. Germany and Japan were allies in WW11. Note Japanese Kanji carved in sheath. Good old knife. Treasure it.

Nice to know the japanese connection thanx👌🗡️

Yes, should have recognized it. The Edelweiss was granted to German Alpine troops after WW1 for their bravery.
IMHO, still fits with the knife and the story.
