Blade Steel: A2, which is known for taking a very fine keen edge. This blade was heat treated by Paul Bos for a hardness of 61.

Blade Thickness: .098"

Blade Length: 3 5/16"

Overall Length: 7 1/2"

Handle: natural katalox sanded to a high grit, then buffed with a clean buff. Stainless tubes. G-Flex epoxy.

Notes on katalox from the Wood Database: "Katalox has exceptional strength properties, and is among the very stiffest and strongest woods available worldwide. Average Dried Weight: 71.6 lbs/ft3 (1,150 kg/m3), Specific Gravity (Basic, 12% MC): 0.94, 1.15, Janka Hardness: 3,660 lbf (16,260 N)."

I personally love katalox because it is naturally oily and resistant to the elements. With the oiliness comes the challenge of getting a good bond in the gluing, so I scrub it first with acetone on the surface to be glued, right before gluing. To give the wood a shiny finish, I sand it to a high grit, then buff it on a clean buff to warm it and bring the oils to the surface. The result is easy on the eyes, as you can see in the pictures below.

Sheath: 8-9 oz. cow hide treated with Sno-Seal. It holds the knife by friction, and is a very snug fit.

Cosmetic blemishes: there is a scuff near the lanyard tube on the right side, just in front of the lanyard tube. There is a discoloration on the sheath; it's a dark spot. These are cosmetic issues that do not affect the performance of the knife.

The first unconditional "I'll take it" gets it.

Thank you for your interest, and have a great day.
