Small or medium fixed blade with good edge retention under $100.

Having no experience with 52100, how does it compare to CPM 3V? Cause I've heard people rave about 3V, and the Bravo Necker 2 is a fine knife.

Eh, I wouldn't exactly put something like 1095 or O1 in the category of superior edge retention. Breaking down cardboard either will lose its edge pretty quick compared to a high end stainless or tool steel, and while they do sharpen easily I think the OP is looking for something that's a bit higher performance.

You guys are probably right. I am pretty new to this knife/steel thing. Just giving an opinion of a blade, that I know from experience, holds an edge very well and is a work horse. For less than a $20 bill you can try one and see if it does the job for you!

3V is tougher, many times more wear resistant, and more corrosion resistant. 52100 is low alloy, while 3V is high alloy, quite different.

I would say the Spyderco M390 Mule. I saw one for sale at 100 on the dot (already had crappy scales but you could remove it)

If you don't mind a cord wrapped handle, I can set you up with a PSK knife in a varity of different steel types for under 100 bucks. Sheath included, leather or kydex.

Not trying to hijack, but what do you mean by PSK Gossman?

personal survival kit knife. Original concept of the knife but has branched out to what it is today, an EDC knife.
