The Izula has the advantage of numerous carry options and the kydex sheath is excellent. The one I received several weeks ago was the sharpest factory knife I've ever purchased. I own several Benchmade knives as well as Spyderco, Bark River and several other brands.

I had recommended this knife for concealed carry in a couple of posts, but never owned one. I decided to rectify this by buying one. I usually prefer a 4" blade, but I have to admit that this little knife has impressed the hell out of me as an EDC.

I don't carry concealed as I use paracord to secure it to my belt and usually have my shirt tucked in. Still, in my opinion, it would make a great concealed knife. Where I live fixed blade knives are often carried openly and attract no attention.

It's proven to be a extremely useful little knife for daily tasks and I feel it is strong enough to stand up to far more difficult work if necessary. (I don't abuse knives unless there is no other choice.)

'Nother vote for the Izzy. Or the RC-3 if you need something a bit bigger. Honestly, I EDC my Izula and it does a fantastic job of most EDC-type chores. Plus, if you get the pink, you're highly unlikely to lose it in the bush.

Another Izula vote here. I carry mine on my pack strap, perfect spot for it when hiking. The teklok geared sheath is good too and provides you with many carry options. It's a tough lil knife, just like it's bigger RAT brothers. I had Siguy convex the edge of mine for me, and it cuts a bit better than stock. If you don't dig leaving the handle bare or wrapping it, you could make or have a maker put scales on for you for a little more money.

I usually have a belt knife on me when out hiking, so the skeleton handle doesn't bother me much. My main belt knife gets all the serious prolonged use, the Izula gets the odd end or small detail jobs. But it can also do serious work if required. I've wrapped mine so I don't have to hold cold metal, and to make it slightly more hand filling; the wrap does make it more comfortable.

If you decide to go upwards of $50, definitely check out the smaller Bark Rivers. A PSK, Little Creek, and Bumble Bee have been on my list for a long time now .

Or , if over $50 is possible now or in the future, check out or own makers here on BF. Less than Bark River but more than RAT. O1, convex ,and as shown both were about $100 each.

The middle one kicked my BK11 out of my knife drawer (it is now my son's) and is my EDC. Often it is the only fixed I bring with me hiking/camping as well.

I would like to see a picture of a Izula next to a BK11. If anyone can help. Thanks.

I have to admit, as nice a little knife as the Izula is, I'm not a huge fan of either skeletonized or paracord wrapped handles for long-term use. Too bad RAT does not offer the Izula with a micarta option.;)

I would probably pick one of the small BRKT knives over the Izula, myself, except they are well outside of the price range the OP listed. :(

Did you ever stop and think people may not want to spend $150-$200 on a small knife?

I'll stick with my Izula and BK11.

BK-11 and Izula type knives are certainly handy (I have the BK-11) but the handles can be very uncomfortable if you need to make any heavy cuts. That's one reason you see so many people cord-wrap them. IMO, if you are planning to use them hard, you might as well get one with a handle already, like an RC-3 or something of that type.

If you're willing to spend a little more, I've seen Fallkniven f-1's for less than $90.00. VG-10 blade, convex grind and zytel sheath. Great knife.

Man, I don't know if I can afford to be a member of this forum :) I have this disease, I can't stop myself from buying more knives. In the past couple of weeks, I picked up a couple of Assisted-Opening folders, ordered a couple more from Amazon, and was researching neck-knives when I came across this forum.

I had never heard of the Izula knife before joining the forum today, and now already I WANT one! It looks like a number of you like this knife. I'm pretty sure I'll be owning one soon!

Anybody got any comparison pics of the Izula or BK11 next to a D4 or grip (mini or fullsize) or any other folders?
