I’ve owned Victorinox classics pretty much all of my life. Great little knives, they’re handy and well built. I have one problem with them. They keep getting lost. They’re like bic lighters, they just walk up and leave.

I lost another one riding down the 5 freeway late last night after a concert. It had been on my keyring but when I got home it was nowhere to be found. I guess the road claimed yet another one of my knives. So how do you guys carry your 58mm SAKs? Keychain? Loose in a pocket?

I carry mine on my keyring. I usually carry two sets of keys. One set is the bigger set with my keys to locks, truck key and stuff. The other is a small set with truck key, my SAK, and small flashlight. I know its strange to carry two sets. I got locked out of a vehicle one time so I always have and extra truck key. I carry them in different pockets.

When I wear jeans, I carry my Executive in the watch pocket with a Victorinox lanyard sticking out as a pull tab. When I wear slacks at the office, I usually carry the Executive loose in my pocket, but sometimes I attach a pocket clip to the keyring and carry it suspended in my pocket.

As an aside I’ll just say that I have far more trouble with losing Fisher Space Pens. Those things are escape artists. It always tries to escape my slacks pocket when I’m driving, because the angle of the seat means the mouth of my pocket is angled slightly downward.

Nite Ize "bare foot" key ring using a small Nite Ize locking "S" hook. Key ring clipped to the "03:00"/"15:00" belt loop.
I carry either a Ruby "Signature" or standard red Mini Champ, to complement the ever present Huntsman, clipped to a SAK belt hanger, with a "large" (from a K-9 leash) twin jaw lobster clasp.

I've had the Signature since 2001. It was part of my EDC (along with a matching Huntsman) until 2022, when I got the Mini Champ.
(My matching ruby Huntsman went AWOL in Nov. 2020, when I moved to this facility. 😡🤬😭)

Watch pocket here also. If no watch pocket, just in the regular front pocket. Always have one of my Ramblers with me.

Smallest SAK I have is a Victorinox Soldier. Real handy are pants like my 5.11 shorts which have a pouch on the front left thigh (photo). There is also a narrow slit pocket on front right thigh which will work for folders, or even a small sheathed fixed blade. Otherwise I would use a small belt pouch.

My prime suspect is the keyring. The stock keyrings are just too loose and big. I've had one or two bend open just for no apparent reason (propably from opening doors).
I always switch the stock ones to mini keyrings from the fishing aisle, used for fishing rods. They are pain in the ass to install but they are secure as heck and look cleaner. I put two of them together for mobility.

Alox Minichamp always on the keychain. And I don't use any split rings. Instead, I keep everything on microcord, which is much safer and better IME.

I’m likely going to buy a replacement today, and when I do I think I might go with the watch pocket idea. I wear jeans daily so that fifth pocket might work out well for me.

I liked the convenience of having a small backup knife on my keys but this isn’t the first SAK I’ve unknowingly donated to the freeway. My keys are hanging off from the ignition switch on the side of my bike so if/when stuff gets loose, it’s gone if it falls. In my truck it’s not a big deal I just find them on my floorboards.

A short lanyard helps with fifth pocket small knives. I just use a piece of leather shoelace with a knot on the end. Best of luck to you.

I carry a Hiker everyday! It has all the tools I want but sometimes, I wish it had the scissors as well! I do have a Classic but it currently lives in my collection.

Here's my setup for my Minichamp and small flashlight (and Buck 501). The key holder is a Bianchi Belt Keeper, which provides a place to clip my keys when I'm away from home. The loop is made from Atwood 275 mini paracord, tied with a double fisherman's knot, and lets the knife and flashlight dangle securely in my pocket. I've used this loop + knot idea for a few other applications and it works a treat! (No, I'm not British -- unless you go back 350 years -- but I love the expression "works a treat.")

For the last 20 years or so, my classic has been carried in a snug leather pouch type sheath on my keyring. That way, its on my keyring so I can't leave the house without it, but I can grab the classic's little split ring and pull it out of the sheath to use with nothing connected to it to inhibit the use of any of the tools or blade. I made the pouch myself, but now I see Victorinox has some keyring sheaths for the classic. I made the pouch from decent leather and fits very snug so the classic won't fall out. If it gets too loose, I soak the sheath in warm water and set out to dry. The next day it's all nice and snug again.
