Small Sander / Grinder recommendation

TheBishop I bought it about two years ago while working at a machine shop through MSC. It was in a seasonal sale catalog and just assumed it could be found for similar price elsewhere. I think my actual cost was $190.

I am sorry for the bad info. I was quick to the keyboard and didnt try to back up my information. $275 was the best price I was able to find as well.

I just bought a made in USA Kalamazoo 1" x 42" sander from Enco (http://www.use-enco.com/CGI/INSRIT?PARTPG=INSRAR2&PMAKA=505-1371&PMPXNO=952569). I ordered it Sunday night and it was at my doorstep when I got home from work on Tuesday. It was $216.95 + the shipping cost was $19.95. It's a smooth running motor! I had a 25% off coupon for HF, but I couldn't bring myself to knowingly buy the 30" model. I had to go with the USA made Kalamazoo, but that's just me. Good luck.

Nice find StraightShot!

Since I have ordered a boatload of 1 x 30s and the HF 1 x30 with 5" disc as backup and bolster removal for bad blades, gonna see how far I can push it.
If it makes loot, will spring for the Kal, or the Lee Valley setup and find a variable motor, or both.

I'm trying to jumpstart a biz on the cheap. So far I don't see these items will go to waste.
I just got a bunch of 5" disc up to 1500 for my handheld Rigid orbital and the HF 5". I've been getting butchered knives from restaurant .. good knives.. just butchered on a wheel and want to be able to smooth them out as an option and make them happy.

You guys make it a whole lot easier and appreciate it.

BTW ... Anyone know a good source for 3000 grit 5" or 6" discs able to purchase buy say 5 or ten?
Seems $150 is the entry price most places I find.
Klingspor only goes to 1500.

I'm gonna change the HF to hook & loop, and in conjunction with the hand held, plus some foam and lambswool covers hope to be able to get a fine polish on damaged blades.
